Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went out to Sierra Gorda with our guide Juan Emanuel from Bike Queretaro tours. The drive out is not necessarily beautiful but unique. We stopped at Puerta del cielo for a picture, then went to chuveje falls. The falls were beautiful and a short easy hike. The water is crystal clear but freezing. The food stand right outside was delicious. We then went to Rio escanela and the puente de dios. This was incredible. The hike was a little longer, but not difficult. You cross multiple wooden bridges, with many great spots for beautiful pictures and scenery. The puente itself was amazing, again with really cold water, but I was able to hike past this and there were great views past it as well..

This is a beautiful part of Mexico, but before going on this tour, make sure you ask questions. We were supposed to have a private tour with an English-speaking guide, but got a group tour with 5 other guests and a guide who spoke no English.
Be aware that this is a LOT of walking on wet and slippery ground and river crossings sometimes over little wood-slatted bridges and sometimes through thigh-high water and rapids on foot. You need water shoes and ideally a change of clothes. Also, we left at 7 AM and didn’t get back until 10 PM, so don’t make early plans for dinner!

We usually visit Queretaro, so we are supposed to be common to the area. But this time we decided to go farther, to Sierra Gorda. I'll have to let behind Tequisquiapan and the wineries and cheese factories in the region. Go find out.
Nice trip i you are pacient.
Next stop from Tequis is Ezequiel Montes, can stop there and have a snack or a full meal if u want. Exiting Ezequiel starts the half desert you´ll see for at least an hour an a half. Beautiful ride.
The winding road gets to mountains, there you see the change of the landscape. Turns green or sandy every time you round the mountain.
Have to be a serious traveler for this.
There are five 5 missions (Spanish established Missions to covert the Indians to Catholic)to visit: Jalpan, Concá, Landa, Tilaco y Tancoyól.
Basically the same.
Best places to eat and rest are in Jalpan. Try "Cecina" with "guacamole".
if you're adventerous enough, you can follow to Xilitla in San Luis state, but thats another story.

We signed up for an 8 hour day tour to Sierra Gorda because we wanted to see some Franciscan missions. They were lovely but turned out to be the least breath taking part of our tour of this eco preserve. Parts of it -- particularly a short hike to a series of cascades and waterfalls -- were so gorgeous it was like being in a movie set! Make time if you can!

I went to Sierra Gouda on a 2 days squad trip. Great views and beautiful clean mountains. We started in San Joaquin and went all the way to camp amen to el Jabali. Great luxury camp. No phone, no WiFi. Just relax after the tour. Stop in Buraceli that is a old catholic mission is a must.

Stayed 2 nights there during a field trip. The place is really nice and pristine. Mountains go up to 3,000 meters are covered by trees at this height. In the contrary, the area close to Queretaro is desert-like. Really nice for hiking trips.

We spent 2 wonderful, busy days with Eleno in the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve....and would highly recommend it to people who want to see some of Mexico's natural beauty and rural lifestyle. We only had time for the shorter tour, but in 2 days we were driven all over (the scenery alone is spectacular, the roads very windy, but Eleno did an excellent job driving), and hiked to a great overlook, hiked up a gorgeous river to Puente de Dios waterfall, watched the swifts fly out of the Golondrinas cave at dawn and visited Las Pozas near Xilitla. The company was very flexible about what we wanted to see and made a custom tour, as we were the only guests. Eleno was friendly, knowledgeable, spoke good English and seems to really love the area; we felt good knowing locals are working to save the natural values of the area. We enjoyed visiting local towns and people, which gave us an interesting view of life in these mountains and the hard work people there do--SG Ecotours works with locals for food, lodging and guiding on the tour, so the communities directly benefit from ecotourism. We hope Sierra Gorda Ecotours continues with success, as they are promoting conservation and sustainable tourism in this area. Go with them on a tour and support their wonderful work and Mexico's Biosphere Reserve system!

Absolutely stunning, a hidden secret. Great outdoor, hiking in particular. Puente de dios is one of a kind. Try to avoid weekends when visiting.

Saludos!
