It's a nice park, they only came for the lemurs. It's not very comfortable, I had to take a knock-knock. Quite expensive entrance fee, plus separately you need to tip the guide, although it's kind of included in the ticket price. But the lemurs were seen, most importantly, very funny. There are also interesting little crocodiles, only six months old, who are allowed to come right up to them for a photo. There is a café on the grounds, though very expensive and a museum. They will also take you to the gift shop before leaving.

its a real shame this park captures wild lemurs for display. They should not be in such small enclosures. You can very easily go see wild lemurs all over Madagascar, including at Lokobe Reserve right there at Nosy Be. Also the old ylang-ylang processing plant there uses steam - ie: wood cut from the forest?! Deforestation is an ongoing tragedy in Madagascar. I would not support this place until they stop catching wild lemurs!

It started out well enough with the distillery and rum-tasting. Our English speaking guide took us around to see the animals, which was fine at first as the chameleons had plenty of space, as did some of the other animals. However, when we got to the lemurs, it was undignified the place they were in. Six lemurs lived on an island, of maybe 50 m2, whereas they usually should have hectares to frolic in. The other lemur were in cages where they had the space to jump a few meters, but not enough. Also there was a cage holding three snakes growing to 4 m, but it was only 1x1x1. When we got to the crocodiles, 9 of them were in a very small facility in which one of the workers started poking them with branches to get a reaction for the tourists.
It was disgusting how they treated the animals, yet if you want to see variety of lemur species, this is the place to go. They had some 10 different species, where Nosy Be only holds 3 species.

The lemurs are the real reason everyone comes here and you quickly can see why. Right up front, this is really a private mini-zoo featuring lemurs and other reptiles, not a wild lemur park. We were on a larger excursion and we stopped here as a part of our tour. The private reserve is nicely laid out. We saw various unique tortoises (some were huge!), water turtles, crocodiles, snakes and of course many varieties of lemurs. These were a lot of fun to see. The personal lemur encounter is special. Our guide called out to some brown lemurs and they came down to see her and start the experience. She then gave those who wanted some banana little pieces and lemurs would hop over to your shoulders to reach for the banana in your hand. Everyone loved it!
BOTTOM LINE: Lumuria Land is a not to be missed adventure when visiting Nosy Be. You can get up close to these fury beautiful animals. We saw 6 different varieties of lemurs on our tour (more than in the National Park). All were so cute to see and watch. We even got to see a moma & her baby together. Way cool! The other animals on the tour were fun to see also. Would we do it again? YES, absolutely! MY RATING: 10/10.
A couple of notes. For those with mobility concerns. This park has several rickety wooden bridges to navigate that may cause problems for some. The trails are a bit uneven in places. No place for a jazzie's here.
Also at the reserve is a ylang-ylang flower distillery. It was interesting to see local women come to the distillery to bring their hand picked ylang-ylang flowers in large bags balanced on their heads. They then had each bag weighed and then they poured them out onto the factory floor on the for processing. Quite a process to get the essential oils from the flowers.

I wasn't sure whether it is run as a for profit or not. It's supposed to be a Lemur conservation center. I did not see the purpose of keeping crocodiles in a small enclosure. 10 euros entrance fee was too much

Firstly I would like to make a point of explaining some negative comments which have appeared regarding the lemurs in cages at Lemuria land. The lemurs are all endangered to critically endangered, they are quarantined before being moved to enclosures that will be species specific and part of a breeding program. The signs in front of the small cages explain the red list endangered status and how many lemurs of each type exist in captivity. They are in no way abused, this is the unfortunate last desperate act of conserving a species.
Other than the lemur issue, the Ylang Ylang distillery and plantation is a wonderful tour and a glimpse into how your perfume is made. The air is heavenly scented as you walk through the distillery and are given a very detailed explanation of the process. The distillery also has a museum feel with antiquities from the owners private collection and vintage distilling equipment on display. You are then escorted to the gift shop where you are welcomed with a refreshing cocktail. There is no obligation to buy anything but the prices are every reasonable and I quickly found myself in a rare but heavenly scented shopping spree. Allow a full day, take your time and envy at a mora mora (slowly) pace. Well worth the small entrance fee. A very pretty place and our guide was lovely with very good english

Visited lamuria land in the morning of a very hot day! We had an english speaking guide which walked us around the park - he spoke very good english and we were thorougy impressed. We saw many types of lemur - some of which were in cages as previous reviews have said, but these are to integrate the animals into the park, to get them used to the visitors and feeding. The cages were no small than those found in much larger zoos such as ZSL London. There were many other creatures in the park from the giant tortoises - Patrick, Napoleon and Josephine to chameleons and boa constrictors. The ylang ylang distillery was very interesting especially when smelling the combinations in the distillery.
Overall a really good way to spend 2-3 hours. Fun for all the family - especially feeding the lemurs banana! Top tip take insect repellent, and water as it gets very warm as expected in the tropics.

We didn’t book a tour for this. Just got into a taxi and rode there. However, it’s totally recommended to use a guide who is usually available at the entrance of the park. Try out the panoramic toilet whilst you’re there. There’s fewer toilets in the world with better views. We got to get really interactive with Lemurs. And there’s a lot of different types.
Best wear dark clothing as they can climb on your shoulder and whilst eating the banana, poop on you. This is however considered a blessing so go for it. We visited the Ylang Ylang distillery and gift shop and the old museum. We got to taste Rhum and visited the drift wood factory. They offered us a welcome drink and snacks which was nice of them.
We saw lots of other animals; crocodiles, several species of tortoises and birds, chameleons and plants. Must do if you’re ever in Nosy Be, will only take a few hours if you’re really keen on learning about everything.

We actually went there to see the distillery. That was just a short, short part of the tour of the park. But since we already was there we did see the animals. I'm not to found of animals in captivity so for me I could have skipped this.

Cost of entry and distance from Helle Ville please

We will visit Nosy Be for 1 day from a cruise ship. We have 3 questions: 1.How far is Lemuria Land from the Hellville cruise port? 2.Can we arrange for a guide to pick us up at the port and drive us to Lemuria Land? 3.How much is entry to the park?
