Perfect hike of medium difficulty. With little kids, one should only attempt to visit bottom of falls. But for the more adventurous hiker, the short trip to the very top is well worth the effort. Kaaterskill Falls is a real treat in spring, after a good rain fall. The first part of the hike is nice, but the exciting view... More

On a recent trip to Upstate NY, I had the opportunity to visit Kaaterskill Falls. It was the most amazing site! You can park your car at the top of the Falls, then trek down the trails to the very bottom... Pack water & a small snack. Wear comfortable sneakers or boots, as the trails can be muddy. Dont forget... More

Husband took me here for a late morning hike and was lucky not too crowded. We also took our dog. The trail itself was more difficult than I expected and saw many families which was surprising, since it seemed like it would be tough for young children. The falls themselves were absolutely stunning and felt great after the walk up.... More

Absolutely loved the views of this place. Breathtaking isn't even close to describing it. There are 3 levels...4 if you count the entry. When you first enter from the road there is a small fall. Then you hike up a trail and come to a small fall and then if you go up some stairs you'll come to a landing... More

Absolutely beautiful! I've been there twice...the first with a friend and the 2nd with my boyfriend. Both times it was breathtaking! The waterfalls are best when there's been recent rain. The hike to the top falls can be a bit of a challenge if you're not in shape...lots of steps and rocks. Can't wait to go back!!

Super easy hike with a great reward. Invest only a short half mile to enjoy a large waterfall with cool refreshing water and plenty of large boulders to sit on. It can be a bit steep and slippery at times, especially on the way back down but use caution and it will be cake! We parked about half mile south... More

Driving by the falls you can barely see it from the road. Even when you leave the car you only get to see half the height of the falls. To truly experience the grandeur and height you need to climb a steep trail to the top of the falls - something most of the people in my group were unwilling... More

Beautiful easy hike to the viewing platform that overlooks Kaaterskill Falls. It was a little icy, due to recent snowfall, but is a well maintained walking path to the overlook. Other trails and offshoots from the main path, so some easy additional excursions around the falls, including the rial trail.

Definitely must to see / hike once in the area. Not difficult but steep. We saw 4-6 kids going up with the parents. Amazing view from lower platform , specially now with the ice :). Go all the way up to upper platform. Enjoy!

The trip to the falls from Olana was fantastic, from the ride over the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, to the slow drive through the towns, and the final ascent up the mountain. We were expecting to be overwhelmed by the falls, but, from the path, they were pretty, but somewhat tame. The half-mile jaunt up the rocky path to the... More
