Muchichire Lodge
Apr. 2021 • Friends
Visited Mana Pools for the first time. Stayed at Muchichiri National Parks Lodge which was extremely disappointing. Having made the booking and paid months in advance the cottage was not very clean - the few windows that are there were covered in dust and spider webs, majority of the glass in the louvers were missing. The kitchen was very poorly equipped but we got by. The solar panel for the lighting was only connected on arrival so we had no lights the first night. We had no water the following day until after 9.30am. The shower curtain was a health hazard it was so dirty.
The view from the lodge was outstanding. We saw hippo, elephant, buffalo and crocodiles whilst sitting under the tree in front of the lodge.

It was a surprise to engage with the guides and gained numerical tactics from other park guides.
Thanks

It could have been so much better
Sep. 2019 • Couples
I was very excited to be finally visiting Mana pools having heard so much about it. The close encounters with the game in the camp site was the best part of the visit. We booked 4 nights but only stayed 3 as the wind and dust were becoming irritating and we felt we had experienced all the was to experience. One can stay in the camp and experience most of the game you'll see out driving. It's a great pity that Zimparks does not reinvest the many USD they are earning from their camp fees and conservation fees in the camp infrastructure. All the buildings are falling apart, toilets are broken, doors don't close properly. There is no grass in the camp sites but the employees all look very well fed. Zimparks needs to realise that their are many parks in Africa and many of them are much better maintained.

Good game experience
Jul. 2019 • Solo
There are numerous species of game and a feeling of abunance by the viewee. The river remains great specially to experience awesome sunrises and sunsets. Elephants are continuously coming and going. For the amount we paid per day I do suggest that the ablutions be looked at and upgraded. The monkeys and baboons were annoyingly pestering us as they tried and steel food. This probably developed due to initial careless handeling of food by guests.

Amazing Place
Apr. 2019 • Family
This place is amazing. We were camped right on the Zambezi. We saw so much game, including lion. Elephants visited the camp each day. Lion walked through one night but were not interested in us. Not many other people made this place perfect.

NYATI NATIONAL PARKS LODGE, MANA POOLS, ZIMBABWE
Aug. 2018 • Couples
In light of our trip to Mana Pools this year, 3rd to 7th August 2018, I wanted to share my experience of the National Parks lodge we stayed in, as this may be useful for some people wishing to stay there. We stayed in Nyati Lodge.

The lodge was basic, no frills accommodation and in need of TLC. It is a shame that these lodges are not what they could be in terms of a good clean up and a lick of paint. There was a very half-hearted flushing toilet and a less than clean looking shower, the drain of which was clogged up. We were, however, grateful for the fact there was running water all day, every day. Bring torches with you for any lights that may not work in the lodge (there was no working light in the lounge area). There is a solar powered inverter there which powers the lights and has a port to charge a cell phone. There was a gas stove in the kitchen which worked fine and a chest deep freeze, also in working order. Even though we had literally just come out of winter, there were mosquitoes around. Each room had a mosquito net above the bed but these had a quite a lot of holes in so either take your own net or at least some tape to stick over the gaps to keep the blood suckers out! There was a braai area outside however the grid had seen better days and had a hole in the center. We just placed our meat around it though, so no problem. The garden furniture was a bit dilapidated and shaky. There was a pleasant lady who came round to the lodge every day to light the fire for the hot water and check up on us. All in all, the lodge was fine and we would happily go back. On our final day, one of the National Parks wardens stopped by to introduce himself and find out how our stay had been. We thought that was a nice gesture. In light of the fact that visitors to Mana Pools spend most of their time outdoors in the beautiful surroundings, the lodges are sufficient to stay in. Tip: Bring a strong flashlight with you for night time cooking outside as the braai area is a few meters from the lodge. The national park was, as always, a paradise to drive around in with many sightings of wildlife.
