Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can do this as part of a tour or on your own if you have a car. Beautiful place, takes 15mins to see everything (or less). Apparently they have a festival in March or April that you can check out. There is a small cafe that sells beverages at the entrance, the owner is super nice. The drawback is that they don't have a bathroom.
PS: Fall or spring are probably the best seasons as we went during the hot blasting summer.. very hot.

A funny place to visit if you've seen Star Wars. It would be even better if they put up more pictures from the movie, to compare with scenes from the film.

Ksar Ouled Soltane was certainly worth the drive. A marvelous, fantasy world of crazy staircases and rounded doorways. No one there the day we visited - except for a couple of locals selling paintings of the Ksar on rocks. One of the most incredible structures I've ever seen...quite magical!

Worth a visit if you already made your way down to Tataouine. Close to Chenini. I gave three stars because the area was not very well kept.

Very original building, at least for an European. Quite nice. Used in Star Wars. Worthy of a visit. Have fun.

there was nobody else there when we visited, a lovely place, very photogenic. Make sure to put this on your places to visit when you are in the area. I wouldn't make a special trip just for this (unless you are a Star Wars fan...)

Absolutely fascinating sight - fully worth the 40min drive from Tataouine. No entrance fee, open to the public, no toilets - is rather well mantained and very impressive.

Amazing find. Like you are really on another planet really straight out of Star Wars. Time has not moved on. It’s free to enter and not been ruined by over tourism. No toilets though. If you are lucky you might pick up a nice piece of artwork on a piece of the original stonework.

Gorgeous and under appreciated. One wall has collapsed. There's no signs about the history or Star Wars or admission fee. The buildings are fascinating. I learned from my Tunisian friends that these are traditional housing. Some are now rented outas shops but I didn't see much of that here. I saw it more at the sites in Medinine.

When I visited Tunisia last March (2015) I was told I couldn't travel to Ksar Ouled Soltane because it was in the hands of rebels. Now its too late I find I could have gone all the same. Its very frustrating. Tell me, how did you get there, did you hire a car or join an organised tour?
Written 5 March 2016
We rented a car. We found a great site with the GPS coordinates of a bunch of the Star Wars filming sites. I did see tour busses at some of our stops though so I'm sure they're available as well. Most of the tours I found online while researching were more than we wanted to spend though.
