Although I am a native New Yorker, this was my first visit to this beach. We totally enjoyed it! Fun

Great food, great vibe. The crowd is very mixed, and there is great public transportation, and a large parking lot that never fills up!

The part of the Riis park beach that I went to has so much flies. Probably we were near the water and sand area. Those flies bit me many times and it hurts. When I try to go to the ocean water, there were probably millions of seashells on the ocean floor. It is hard to walk through it unless... More

I've been buying season passes for the beach for years. This season, however, the sand is filthy with glass bottles and food wrappers causing birds to attack beachgoers. Also the iconic clock at Bay 6 is STILL broken. I've reported these problems to lifeguards and the parks dept. No one cares. What are they spending the parking lot fee on???... More

I love going to this beach. It's the closest from the city. Love the restaurants and easy facilities.

This is by far the largest public beach in the area. They offer parking, food, beverages and even have a golf course. Sometimes they have fairs as well and it's a great day out for the family.

Jacob Riis Park - although tough to get to on public transportation (so it would seem since we drove) it is a wonderful beach really close to New York City. There are places to eat and a bar to grab a drink if that's your fancy. We went on a day early in the summer season and there weren't a... More

The Riis Park Golf Course is located just adjacent to Jacob Riis Park Beach in the Rockaways. It is an 18 hole PAR 3 pitch and putt course. It is a hidden gem as far as I'm concerned. It is a very short course (1570 yds) but it's great for your short game practice. One thing though, is you have... More

This beach is located 1 hour to one and a half hours outside of the city. We commute from the Astoria Queens and we take the q53 bus to Rockaway and then the q22 bus to the beach. The bus drivers are not very helpful ,coming on the q22 just get off as soon as you see a large brick... More
