This museum has a small but interesting collection. The young woman at the front desk was very helpful and gave us an overview of the collection. Well worth a stop if you are visitng Elmira.

Friendly staff with eclectic collection of Elmira & Mark Twain historical displays. Very nice section on Jewish immigrants contribution to Elmira's history and the Gilded Age in the region. $5 regular price, $3 for seniors.

I found a stone artifact in my back yard and described it to the staff and they went directly to a book and helped me identify it. great displays and info about the local history.

It's simple: a larger Exhibit for John W Jones is needed. There is entire corner dedicated to Mark Twain. Clearly he is a local hero. John W Jones should have been given equal recognition. He buried about 2973 soldiers who fought in the Civil War...More
