On my road trip I stumbled across this little gem! Lighthouse Dave is a volunteer there who really cares about this historical treasure! He is very friendly and knowledgeable about the history. The grounds were well kept and it very serene to see.

The lighthouse is very well maintained and reflects donations by very generous patrons and local residents. The second floor hosts a surprisingly large military museum for Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Great memorabilia and artifacts from across many major theaters. Be sure to visit the adjoining Coast Guard and Navy building. The highlight was the stair climb to the... More

We went on the lighthouse tour. If you are worried about heights, don't go up in the tour. It is a bit nerve racking. Even with the height issue, I still went up. The view was great. The rest of the tour was awesome. The guide really knew the history and made to whole tour interesting. He was funny too.... More

I live close to this lighthouse, but it is one of many I have seen in the eastern US. It is always worth the trip. The tours are definitely worth taking, as is the climb to the top of the tower. Cute little gift shop, nice grounds.

A lot of time and effort has been put into establishing this museum. Okay, there are other, grander offerings when it comes to making history accessible to the public, but few can match the volume and variety on show here. It has a wealth of social as well as military history and the guides obviously love their jobs. Being English... More

Nice place, bring a picnic lunch, very interesting history there. A nice find in the neighboring town. I took a group of senior citizens from work and we had a nice day. Some had trouble getting into the house to look due to steps. Beautiful view.

Beautiful area with great historical displays on the grounds. Wonderful views of Lake Erie. Ghost tours available. They say the lighthouse is haunted!

The gentleman who gave us our tour was very chatty and knowledgeable. We visited on a very clear day and so when we got to the top of the lighthouse, we had an excellent view. The main floor of the house was more interesting to me, but others in our tour group really were excited by the upstairs rooms dedicated... More

Loved this stop! Our tour guide "Dave" was so informative and we learned a lot of lighthouse information as well as local history. Well worth your time. They also have military rooms that you could spend as much or as little time you'd like. I couldn't believe it but they even have a actual "torpedo". It might be small but... More
