We were on a river cruise and Mandrogi was one of our stops. We first went to the vodka museum (of course!) where they have a huge display of 3,500 different Russian vodkas (none are available for export, so you really need to try and...More

A brief stop on a river cruise found this delightful village. It’s great for a walk through the woods but there are plenty of small craft shops with artists demonstrating their skills covering: painting, pottery, glass, weaving, Jewelry etc but the impressive was the paining...More

This place is a shameless tourist trap but none the worse for that. The various shops were housed in old wooden Russian houses which added charm and quite honestly it was a nice walk around the place even if you don't go into the shops....More

We had a lovely experience painting the matryoska dolls. Our guide (male) stayed with us (all women) and painted a doll with us for his daughter. The cabin we were in was quaint and filled with hand made items used for decoration. We had 'tea'...More

Highlights include a Banya experience, the Vodka Museum, craft shops with craftsman working on site. Interesting old buildings. Lots of souvenir shops take away from the charm if you ask me. The Vodka Museum charges 300 ruble entry fee for tasting. This is all geared...More

Visited on cruise. went on the ferry to the fairy tale trail and 'rescue zoo' where sick animals are kept in dreadfull conditions and are clearly distressed. In the UK this 'rescue zoo' would surely be closed.
