Excellent display of art. We were amazed at the Thaw collection of American Indian Art. Looking at these pieces makes you wonder how long it took to complete a piece and then adorn horses and saddles with the craft work. Truly a collection worth seeing.

Mid week visit. The staff were friendly and helpful. The museum pleasantly quiet. Some very interesting exhibits to be found. My wife (who does not like museums) found this one both quaint and interesting. Various film series to attend, events to participate in too.

Visited an afternoon during the week prior to Christmas and had the museum almost to myself. Some exhibits are permanent, and others for a limited time. Really enjoyed history of figure skating and Lewis Hine photographs. Three levels, cafe and museum shop.

We saw a few other exhibits, and got a nice docent tour, but really this place is (perhaps) unparalleled for the collection of Native American art and artifacts. Piece after piece is stunning.

Best exhibits were Indian related but collection was uneven in quality or narrative...not a true regional museum like Adirondacks museum

Cooperstown and it's surrounds is not easy to get to but certainly well worth it. The Fenimore Art Museum has beautiful exhibit space and a well balanced offering of international traveling and locally produced exhibits. The lower level features the amazing Thaw collection of art...More
