Having seen this "castle" from the rail for years, it was so neat to visit. There are only two ways to do it: get a a boat out of Beacon, or a kayak trip. All tours are guided by passionate, informative volunteers. What appears to...More

Great choice for a tour on a beautiful summer day on a very busy Sunday afternoon in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Tour of Bannersmen Island was fantastic. Tour guide Pat was outstanding. Will definitely go back and highly recommend to others.

It's not every day that you get to hike to and around such beautiful ruins. Our trip started just 100 yards from the Beacon Metro-North station, when we made our way to the water. There's not much signage, so we just sort of gravitated to...More

Visiting the castle and island is a great experience. It is only accessible through a guided tour. The tour is worthwhile. It is about 1.5-2 hours and provides a ton of history and stories about the island.

No, it is owned by New York State but operated by a private trust. It is only available by private tour, it is $35. You can park at the beacon train station and take the ferry which is part of the tour.
