Returning from two weeks in St. Catharines-Niagara Region, the Hamilton-Burlington, and Toronto areas, I stopped over in the Albany-Latham-Colonie area for a few days.
During that Time, I visited Falls View Park and Cohoes Falls two days in a row. On the first day, the...More
The Cohoes Falls are a nice nice place to visit to take in beautiful sites along with some history. There is a nice walkway and viewing areas to take in the sites of the falls and signage to explain the history of the area. Springtime...More
We were disappointed to find the lower portion of the park closed in winter. I wish the closing would have been more prominently displayed on websites. The parking lot is open but the gates are locked up to the lower portion of the park. We...More

Love to go here especially after a heavy rainfall. The park is beautiful and lets you see the falls at its best. You can walk down the long staircase and see it from eye level which is even better then viewing from the top.
We stumbled across these waterfalls by accident. Spectacular. If you are looking for an amazing sight the Cohoes falls are exactly that. Worth the walk down to the bottom to see from the riverside. Again a hidden gem that was well worth the visit

Route 9 is the long way. Take I787 north from Albany to Cohoes. When it ends at Route 32, go straignt through the light onto Mohawk Street. Continue on Mohawk for about 3/4 mile. You will see signs for the falls overlook pointing to the right, behind the old mill housing buildings, and then when you get to St. Patrick's Church you hang a right and the falls overlook parking is just up a bit on the left. Walk across the street to much better views of the falls. Hope they're still running strong for you today!
