My boyfriend and I stayed at Glenmere Mansion for my birthday this past weekend. He set up a couples massage and I was really looking forward to my deep tissue massage. Unforly it was really disappointing. It started out with the masseuse asking me what I would like her to focus on to which I said my hips and lower back. I started the massage out on my back which I have never done in my life but went with it. Unforly after 45 mins of massaging my legs, arms, face, feet and scalp she flipped me over and spent maybe 5 minutes on my back. She went no where near my lower back and did nothing to help loosen my hips as I requested. This was supposed to be a deep tissue massage so I was really upset when she told me it was done. Another thing that I thought was horrible was when she took the massage oil and drizzled it on my back (versus putting in her hands and applying it properly). Not the most relaxing feeling! My boyfriend’s massage was just as bad. The only massage person was a light touch masseuse which I though he requested but nope. He said that her touch was so light she might have not been touching him at all! We went back to our rooms and had to give each other massages. We really loved the mansion and look forward to our next stay but will avoid the spa in the future. It’s really sad Bc the spa is absolutely gorgeous but the quality of service was not what you’d expect from a hotel of its caliber.

My wife and I had the couples massage. It is a very nice facility, very relaxing atmosphere. The massage was great for tight mussles but soothing as well. Totally recommend this place for a long deserved splurge.

We love this place. They have a Hammam. We love the couples Journey to Shambhala. This is a totally relaxing, quiet spa. The sitting room is beautiful looking over the property. Even if you're not going to the Hammam, the other spa rooms are great. Everything is pristine, clean, fragrant, pleasing, sensual, just amazing. We're looking to book another spa now. You need to go!!

Glenmere Mansion is located in the lush countryside of upstate New York and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a couple of days there and experience the Lower Hudson Valley. The Mansion which dates back to the early 1900's stands majestically in beautiful green park lands and has breathtaking views over a private lake. The interior includes a marble staircase, paneled library and exquisitely furnished bedrooms. The house which still to this day offers Great Gatsby themed soirees was once the haunt of New York socialites who used it as a weekend retreat. Now it is an 18 room Relais & Chateaux hotel, which includes personal touches like a handwritten welcome note to make guests feel very much at home. Outside, in the formal gardens, there is nice pathways throughout the estate and for my visit it made for beautiful early morning walks as part of my morning routine. The spa, located to the back of the building is elegantly furnished and the relaxation room is laid out like a french salon with plenty of lounging chairs and soft cushions. White orchids and picture books complete the relaxed setting and the overwhelming feeling is one of relaxation and comfort.  My therapist Tina was excellent. I had opted for a classic massage to ease out my jetlagged shoulders, improve circulation and also really to 'test out the spa'.In my opinion, the sign of a good spa is competency in massages and on this occasion I was not disappointed. We started face up instead of face down and that was a first, I thought about this and couldn't decide what was my preference. Eventually though I came to the conclusion that face up first actually has its benefits, as it gets all the legs and arms out of the way, allowing for a long dreamy massage to the back at the end.Mid treatment, my phone started to beep. I had tucked it into the pocket of my fluffy robe and forgot to switch is off. It interrupted the treatment like an undesirable SOS and I so regretted not turning it off. I apologized to Tina who didn't miss a beat and gave a barely audible murmur, clearly keen not to get distracted by anything.  Eventually my heated treatment table got the better of me and I started to drift off.  Tina used a massage cream (not an oil) and also used warm towels on my feet and face. She worked on my crunched shoulders and did a light scalp massage.  By the end of the treatment I was feeling more whole and certainly a lot more chilled out. My treatment room had bathing facilities and an ensuite and it almost seemed a shame to be leaving it.Afterwards I was treated to a hot cup of Vanilla and Mandarin infused organic tea and the good vibes continued as I lounged rejuvenated in the relaxation room with pretty views out over a courtyard with fountain.

Each time I visit the Spa at Glenmere, I think to myself "how could this possibly get any better?" and then I go back and each time is better than the last! The Spa at Glenmere does an incredible job time and time again. I consistently feel like I am able to pause reality and take a mini vacation at the spa.
