We visited the Vanderbilt Museum and thoroughly enjoyed the "living History Mansion Tour" Labor Day Weekend 2017. This was a phenomenal "glimpse" into history with 6 different historical characters leading our tour through the beautiful mansion which is located on Long Island Sound. Our "tour...More

A friend and I went on a tour of the Mansion. It was great. The Guide was super knowledgable and told all kinds of anecdotes about the Vanderbilts and their visitors. Some of the home's rooms were closed due to a filming. We decided that...More

This is probably the most boring thing I've ever done in my life. Of course, the person at the ticket stand is partially responsible. We came here to see the mansion - a place where people lived. Instead, we saw a collection of shells, butterflies,...More

I have visited Eagles Nest many times - take a tour - the history of the place (and the Vanderbilt family) is extraordinary - all the guides (sometimes in period costume) will leave you with a real feel for what it was like to have...More

The 24 room mansion is open to the public and a beautiful example of "Gold Coast" living. Building started in 1910 and was done slowly in three stages. The mansion is furnished with original pieces and art and looks out over Long Island Sound to...More

Nice night. Did the two show evening, received the discount for kids with student ID and multi show, saves a few bucks. My only gripe is that the mgt. had us leave the theater after the first show, told us to get on line at...More

The guided tour is so delightful. It is an added cost to your admission, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The tour guides play the characters in the historical story and they do a great job.

Nice tour of the mansion. Staff was friendly and helpful. The attempts to take you back in time was cute, but also a bit corny. The maritime and natural history exhibits were interesting. The planetarium was okay. Note that it doesn't open till noon.

About 45 minutes- 1 hour. But you can tour the grounds at you leisure. And there is a planetarium and a small natural history museum also.

Hi. No you may not take any photos inside the mansion. I was told that the flash from your camera or phone , over time will harm the items inside the mansion. However outside you may take as many photos as you wish.
