I am lucky to live within a 10-15 walk to the New York Botanical Garden. My favorite parts of the Botanical Garden are the Native Plant Garden in spring and summer. The trails of the Thain Family Forest is my can't miss area. Eventually you will come to a small waterfall and can kayak on the river. A visit in... More

We went to NYBG in Dec for the Holiday Train show. We rode the train up to the Bronx and was quite a long ride. We took the little tram tour around the park and waited for our time stamped tickets to enter the show. We were very surprised at the admission fee of $32 per person! We ate at... More

Our family of 6 adults traveled over an hour from different locations to the train show for a 5:30 timed admission on Saturday, January 14. Only problem is they closed the exhibit at 6 pm preparing for a special event at 7 PM. Really - would you expect the last group to be able to see the entire exhibit in... More

As a travelers and model train junkies from the Midwest, we were unsure of what to expect at the annual Train Show at the NYBG. Located in the Bronx, the garden grounds were expansive and very well kept. The train show was in the conservatory and it is simply one of kind. Though called a "train show" the real magnificence... We had last gone here years ago when our children were very young. We saw saw an ad for the train show and decided to attend with family and college-aged kids. It was spectacular! Very beautiful, well-thought out and fascinating. Even the usually-jaded college crowd enjoyed it ! A must see !!!

Our 8 year old granddaughter was transfixed by these trains...12 gauge...running overhead and around in various settings depicting New York city landmarks. I was amazed with the artistry. Building are hand crafted from wood, twigs, bark and dried flowers in the Garden. Everything is meticulously designed. This is a show for adults and kids. Visit the garden shop afterwards...they have... More

Although a bit far away from the heart of the city, the New York Botanical Garden located in the Bronx is an awesome visit any time of the year! In spring and summer you'll see blossoming flowers among more shades of green than you can count, all the while immersed in sweet smells and happy birds. In fall it's a... More

We were in NYC the week after Christmas, and went to the NY Botanical Garden to see their annual Model Train Show. They have copies of many NYC buildings, bridges, and other attractions in miniature with model trains running around them. A must see if you are in New York City in November thru to January.

The show was magnificent and disappointing at the same time. The exhibit was done well, however it was very small in my estimation. The number of folks they allow in at one time is far to many as everyone lingers. There were more adults than children. I didn't think that my 8 and 5 year old grand daughters would have... More
