This is a beautiful area. Bikers, hikers and swimmers take note. There are many spots to stop and enjoy. If you want to stay for a few days there are a number of lodging opportunities and food of all kinds.

I'll start with the finale- the view from the fire tower was fabulous, exhilarating and made the whole thing worthwhile. But this was TOUGH! I am reasonably fit for a 61 year old, but this, in my opinion, called for a better level of stamina...More

The day we hiked the trail was dripping wet so it was a bit like following a muddy streambed. It was steep as well so we had to take it slowly. View on top was worth it. Would like to go back under drier conditions.

Fishing is great, a lot of the cottages are great around the lake. Watch out for that Prospect Point, management is unreal! They have boat and plane rentals, an art center & more. Just a great place over all! My family and I love it...More

We did not know anything about this trail and were attracted by its short length, 2.0 miles. Expecting a short and easy hike, we did not take any water with us, nor any food. It was foolish since we had two kids with us, ages...More

I climbed (with snowshoes) this peak several times in the winter when I was stationed at the now-defunct Griffiss AFB in the mid-70's. Each time was a challenge, since the weather invariably turned nasty the closer we'd get to the summit! Coming back down was...More

This is rated an "intermediate/advanced" level trail. For the climb up there isn't anything I'd consider technical. People not used to climbing might have a little trouble on the way down. What makes this hard is the sheer vertical climb in a relatively short distance....More

One of the more accessible and visited of the Adirondack Peak. Although it's not one of the "High Peaks" it is a very worthwhile hike. Be prepared for lots of company on the trail though. Start out early in the morning to avoid some of...More
