My husband and I have been traveling up to the Fishkill and Newburgh, NY area for years and have never explored the region much until our last trip, 11/11-11/13/16. With a little Google searching for hiking I found Fishkill Ridge. We are so happy we went and hiked just a piece of it. The description is correct, a lot of... More

The parking is easy to find via GPS just past 36 Sunnyside Road. I recommend this hike for people who are fit. I wouldn't bring children under 10 years old as there are plenty of lose rocks and it is steep!

Hot/humid but that can't be helped! Pathways are very well marked & used; nice! For us, we were there at a FAB time for viewing mushrooms & fungi, unbeknownst to us prior! Superb.

We decided on a whim to check this trail out. It was a very hot day so we loaded up on water and set off. The trail was very well marked and user friendly. We had a great hike with lots of scenic views. We also really enjoyed the unique sounds of nature, i.e. bird calls, along the way.

We used the NY/NJ Trail Conference guide to a 6.8-mile hike starting at Pocket Road in Beacon. (White trail to yellow to blue to backtrack on white.) We were out for about 5 hours, including some chats with fellow hikers and rest/lunch stops at vistas. For a shorter route, see the guide on the Hike the Hudson Valley site (red... More

Trail well marked and maintained. Great views at the summit, this hike can be linked to other trails in the area for a all day adventure.

Amazing views with good trails. Trail can be limited, but scenery spectacular. Make this a place to go.

There are many hours of trails in this area and we trekked through at least 6 of them. Beautiful, almost untouched trails through dense woods and mountain ridges...just be athletic and ready to sweat. Head up to the reservoir for a picnic lunch--it's very pretty.

The trails which lead up to this mountain range are usually easy to negotiate. The hike is a good workout but the views at the top are well worth it.
