The Hacienda was built in the early 1800's and gives you a wonderful view of what life was like at that time for the wealthy ranchers in the area. This is a little off the beaten track, but well worth the short drive from the...More

This is a good location to learn a bit about the early settlement of this part of the country. The tour is self guided, with a number of placards to explain the uses of the building and how things were done by the early settlers.

This doesn't get a lot of ink, but located a couple of miles from the center of Taos, this former residence/trading fort/compound served as a major commercial center. It has been partially restored but is very rustic. Wear comfortable steps and be prepared for narrow...More

Such a simple hacienda from the outside but so much to explore on the inside. Thick walls and large courtyards for the Martinez family to enjoy year round. Each room has been labeled and decorated in the style of the era.

The hacienda has about 20 rooms and in each you get a feel for life in the 1800's, i.e. blacksmith shop, kitchen, etc. What a hard life it must have been!

Very authentic feel of life in early Taos. This was a self guided walking tour of an historic hacienda set in the period. A short drive from the busy plaza to the picturesque Taos countryside was relaxing!

Have you ever wondered what a hacienda was really like? This is the place to see then. You really get a sense of history and life in the southwest in the 1600-1800s. Worth the visit.
