It's a pretty plaza, but there are a lot of tourist and junk shops around. It would be nice to have some nicer shops and galleries.

There is a zocalo in the center of The plaza, typical of Mexican towns....which Taos used to be. This plaza served as the center of the town's commercial area with Native American tribes, Mexicans and the US Cavalry passing through the area.

The Plaza is a really nice area of Tase. Fun restaurants and stores for shopping. Park and just take a long walk around the Plaza - always fun.

Be sure to get out and walk around Taos. Compact, funky, lots of art, antiques, friendly folks with interesting shops.

Old Southwest flavor. Plenty of souvenirs. Nice selection of fine art and jewelry. Wonderful choices of restaurants and confectioners.

The central plaza is small, parking is metered and space is limited in the square. However you can find parking along other streets and walk the old town area very easily.

While not the center of the shops and galleries in old town Taos, the Taos Plaza is close enough to be the base/start of the excursion. There are a number of shops worth visiting and the Hotel La Fonda is right on the plaza. Located...More

Driving into Taos gave me a bit of a negative taste - traffic - not what you want on a get away trip. But the plaza was nice and much quieter than Santa Fe.

We found the Taos Plaza to be enchanting. Buildings surrounding the plaza contain a variety of shops and galleries. A very good restaurant is the "The Gorge" that has reasonable prices. At night, it's like a fairy land.
