The Plaza is certainly worth walking through when in Taos, but it's not anything special beyond the historic significance. Nothing wrong with it. But just some decent shops, and a few places to grab something to eat.

Taos and the shops surrounding Taos Plaza have artwork for sale of all different types: jewelry, paintings, pottery, clothing, everything imaginal. I rate it 4 stars because we were just the day before in Santa Fe and that was 5 stars. What was it that...More

The stores were great to browse in. The quilt store in the corner is exceptional. There are galleries, gem & mineral store, cowboy & western store. Prices are resort (high) but very fun to browse. Great little place to spend a few hours.

Walk around, shop around, and maybe buy a few things. Very typical plaza with lots of nooks and crannies to explore.

This is not as crazy as the plaza in Santa Fe. It's a lot smaller but there are some good shops with fairly reasonable prices. We managed to put a dent in our wallet here. Be sure to visit the other shops on the perimeter...More

I have been to many plaza's and city centers around New Mexico. Most of them seem to have the same things, some towns more pricey than others. I think if you want some authentic New Mexico stuff, this is probably the most reasonable town to...More

Not sure what the hype is about. There were several decent shops and food places here, however, nothing spectacular. What I determined about Taos is that the best parts of Taos aren't in Taos but, rather, outside of town.

Going to Taos? Go to the Plaza, at least twice. Once in the early afternoon and once in the evening. Or once during the week, and once on a weekend. The vibe changes to suit the season, the festival, the event, the people.

Taos Plaza desperately needs a face lift! More benches and landscaping, new paint and repairs to all the cracked pavement would go a LONG way to making this a more hospitable and tourist friendly gathering place!!

We always go to this area. Love the pottery, art and clothing. There was a noodles vendor there and the food was awesome. Weather was perfect, so pleasant to be there and shop.
