The High Road to Taos is very much off the beaten path. It is not touristy at all which makes for a nice drive. The 90 km long scenic road traverses areas of high desert, mountains, forests, small farms, and tiny Spanish Land Grant villages and Pueblo Indian villages. This road is rich in history and culture and offers a... More

This scenic byway was recommended to us by many people so we decided to take it from Santa Fe to Taos and back to Colorado! I don't think the extra time on this road is worth it. The views are pretty, but I don't think worth the extra time. There's not really anything else along this road to stop and... More

This road is fun in a fast car. But its even funner when you have time to stop by and see all the sights and visit the people. I will never forget it!

A great place to escape to from the every day hustle and bustle. Easy book, fast and convenient walk into town. Very friendly owners. I will make this trip again

My aunt drove us yesterday and it was beautiful. There were a few small towns to stop in and also several areas to pull over for scenic photos. We took the high road on the way to Taos and the low road on the way back. Both views are breathtaking.

An excellent start to the Enchanted Circle Tour, be sure to take the low road at some point as well. Lots of great places to stop and take a break

We enjoyed driving TO Taos from Santa Fe via The High Road. We always enjoy scenic roads and allow enough time to drive them. This drive has the dual attractions of the small, historic villages and then the beauty of the Carson National Forest. Sadly, there is a Family Dollar along this route -- so totally out of place but... More

I read the reviews, but decided to take the ride to see for myself. It was ok. Some of the views were nice & we got to see how some of the locals lived. The low road was better to me, but that's just me.

If you have the time take this road between Taos & Santa Fe. Wonderful views, nice valley villages & make sure you visit the Ortega rug store in Chimayo.

We drove thru right after an arctic blast but roads were well maintained and the day was sunny and clear . The views were spectacular as the snow glistened from every angle. Words cannot describe the beauty of this landscape on this day .
