Yesterday I was suffering from altitude sickness, climbing the last 600 feet on the Slot Canyon trail at Kasha-Katuwe and loving it. Today driving the Enchanted Circle, I would have gone back in time 24 hours being close to throwing up, head spinning, and having a difficult time catching my breath compared to this drive. Maybe it is better during... More

Snow on the ground but not on the roads, bright blue skies, crisp temps made this drive awesome. We took a side road on the way to Red River to see the Rio Grande Gorge and we are glad we did. We stopped at Red River and rode the chair lift up to 10,300 feet as we were not prepared... More

Beautiful views, fishing, hunting and 4 wheeling. Locals are warm and friendly. Bring fishing pole and hiking shoes, the area is and has wonderful fishing. Great cabin lodging or camping. For singles, couples, or families!

My husband and I travel this circle about twice a month doing insurance work ...and better than that, we live on it between Taos and Angel Fire. We have the best job ever!!!! You have to take it easy after a snow, but the roads are quickly cleared by New Mexico's road department and the scenery is just so beautiful.... More

This was a beautiful drive on a cloudless, warm October morning. The scenery was lovely and there were still areas of bright yellow fall color. We passed interesting old buildings, houses, small towns and it seemed there was something new at each turn. We had to make a u-turn to explore and photograph an old deserted homestead with outbuildings. This... More

If you are visiting Taos you must do the Enchanted Circle Drive. The scenery along the 90 mile route never gets boring. We did not do a lot of stops in the towns and the trip took us 3+ hours as we detoured to Ski Valley. Also, do not miss the Vietnam Memorial just outside of Angel Fire. It is... More

Start out at the Taos Pueblo then make your way to the Rio Grand Gorge Bridge. Then you are off into the mountains to see some amazing scenery ! Please stop and visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Angel Fire and be so kind as to leave a donation. Then you are back in Taos. Take your time, its a... More

My Lonely Planet book recommended this drive and I am very glad I took it. Starting out from Taos, you drive through several small towns and excellent scenery through the mountains. Especially enjoyed Red River with its cool downtown area and funky shops. Saw bighorn sheep on the drive and going in the fall made for beautiful colors with the... More
