The museum itself has only a couple of rooms. The outside of the place is almost as interesting as the inside (and you don't have to pay to walk around outside). A nice video and some exhibits, but I wouldn't pay any more than the...More

Visited Taos quickly on a Sunday PM, but for this reason. Glad I did, very humbling to be among his things. Felt the same way among Gen. Phil Sheridan's things. Each man saw a side of the Indian campaigns of the 1860s, but Carson refused...More

Excellent video of Kit Carson's life. The home and displays are well done and informative. Staff is excellent. Gift shop has unique, interesting and reasonably priced items. Entrance and garden are beautiful and well maintained. Worth the stop!

The Kit Carson Home and museum are a fairly small area. The self guided tour took us about an hour including the 20-minite video. The tour and video provide an interesting insight to Kit Carson. If you want a break from art studios and tours,...More

Be sure to watch the 15 min. film prior to your tour. The actor who plays Kit Carson looks a lot like him as it is his Great-Great Grandson. Very cool! We owe a lot to Kit Carson for helping to map the West. His...More

Parking was a tough find while we visited the area, not that it does not exist. There is no direct parking for the museum. However, we were able to park in an open restaurant parking lot at no charge just a block or so to... More
