We hiked the Fisherman's Trail all around the lake and then behind the dam back to the parking lot. Moderate up and down. Excellent views of the lake.

A nice area in the cool pines of New Mexico. The lake is well stocked with fish. There are several trail of all levels for hiking, biking or running. There is a disk golf course, ridding stables, and photography opportunities. Enjoy

Really gorgeous view. The lake looks so serene! Not too crowded, and not too lonely either. You can walk around and enjoy the scenic view.

This lake is very close to Ruidoso, NM, which has a moderate 4 seasons. Free entrance unless you want to fish, then you will need a state license of course. A canoe would be perfect. Not a swimming lake to me. Too much greenery on...More

This lake was closer to town while staying in Ruidoso, so we tried coming out. First off, it’s an unpaved road to main parking area. We had one in a wheelchair. There was a handicap-accessible bathroom, but it was at the top of the hill...More

Very beautiful lake. We took the trail around it with a toddler in the back carrier. The trail is easy to moderate in some places. There was lots of people fishing, and a few on small boats in the lake.

Hadn’t been up to the lake before our recent visit to Ruidoso. Pretty easy find. Parking is plentiful. Lots of area to fish from the banks. People were also using kayaks on the water. Plenty of hiking trails around.

Yes you do need a NM Fishing license. You can purchase a temporary one ( 7 days I think) on line or at Walmart.
