We didn't have long to stay in town due to a long drive we had to do that day. Our short stay at the museum with the friendly staff knowing the history of the area gave us a good understanding of the area. Highly recommended...More

This is a great museum for a small town. Old coal mines that have closed and the work done there; old Number Please switch boards; dolls; paintings; Glass; antiques. There is too much to see to mention here.

If our train to Albuquerque had not been delayed, we would never have discovered this museum. Director/curator Roger Sanchez is a font of information about the history of Raton and the coal mining industry in the area. The museum has a wonderful collection of artifacts,...More

has good history and displays of the Santa Fe trail, stagecoach stops, etc. Also good history about the abandonded coal towns surrounding the area with awesome pictures of what they were when they were booming. Very nice!

Very nice local museum. Large historical building in the middle of town. Tons of old photos and local memorabilia. The curator is in his 70's and grew up here, so he kinda knows what he's talking about if you have questions. This is worth visiting.

We were given a lecture on Raton and it was very informative. A man that really had his facts straight. There was also another room upstairs that we did not see.
