From US 180, turn right on Catwalk Road, also known as NM Rte. 174. The trailhead is at the end of the narrow, winding, and dip-filled road, about 5 miles away.

The Catwalk in Whitewater Canyon is a super-interesting site where the CCC and later the USFS are battling with nature to maintain an elevated walkway along an historic water pipeline into Whitewater Canyon. It's an easy and short hike in and out along the incredible...More

Very nice walk, good information on the history of the cat walk. Relaxing listening to the water. Not a long walk. All ages can enjoy this area.

Wonderful area to visit. The trails are clearly marked out and easily accessible. It's about a good 4 hour journey from the entrance to the falls and back if you don't stay too long playing in the nice cool water.

Great engineering, stunning views, golden eagles circling above the tall cliffs! Thank you, U.S. Forest Service, for bringing the Catwalk back.

We hiked beyond the catwalk and in the water and along the banks as far as we could go. Super beautiful and peaceful place!

Yes, if on a leash.
When driving to the catwalk, is there still a shallow riverbed that you have to drive through (which is sometimes running too much water to drive through)?

Yes, it was still running pretty good when I went and although my vehicle has 4WD and has a low ground clearance and therefore I didn't cross my creek and instead parked and just walked along the creek until reaching the... More
Would the Catwalk Trail or any part of it be accessible for someone who walks with a cane?

There are several walks along the Trail. Benches are located at intervals for those needing a rest. If you stay on the finished portions walking with a cane should be reasonable assuming that the individual has a... More
