We visited during the week in the spring. This obviously is a heavily used park, especially the boat docks. Camping available. This is desert, read sand. When the water is up, there is plenty of space for water sports.

We were there in July fishing and camping. We fished the lake to no avail but the camp grounds was below the dam and we caught some pretty nice bass in the Rio Grande River. We had no problems to speak of other than it...More

We were roaming around the Elephant Butte Area and saw the state park and it was open and no one to collect money, so we drove in. We followed the road right down to the water. It looked like a great place to camp on...More

Really enjoyed this place, which features what we were told is a 17-mile long lake. It offers spectacular views of the mountains.

This a great park. Lots of camping and with good facilities. Tons of hiking, especially if you drive away from the main gate and go through town of Elephant Butte, just a couple of miles away. The West Lakeshore trail is extensive and lovely.

Although I like Navajo Lake better, this is much warmer water and closer to Albuquerque. I can't give 5 rating because someone stole my tube when I wasn't looking.

As a Army retiree we are able to rent equipment at military bases so I didn't even go near the marina. So I don't know but it was a really nice place so I would expect there is something there.
how do I find out where is the best place to fish for catfish, I live over 200 miles from lake and will be first time going there.

Well it is hard to say where the best place to fish for catfish will be usually when I go to a new lake I ask at the bait store, but I have found that if I can find a place where the water seem to back up into a cove or the... More
