Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Taos clay is fantastic! Their gallery is beautifully curated, the workshop offerings are great, and it’s one of the cleanest and well organized studios I’ve ever worked in. Plus the owners, Georgia and Jules are warm and friendly. If you go, you become part of a clay community which is supportive and comes with the responsibility to keep it as clean, organized and friendly as it is now.

The new owners do have a small gallery in front with the remaining area to be used by students for art therapy. I met the new owner and seems very excited to help the community with this venture.

We planned our vacation months out, which included a class to celebrate a family birthday. We booked and confirmed. Then on the day of the class there was no one at the studio. After multiple unanswered calls to their numbers, the owner Teresa finally texts that sorry but all the instructors left to start their own studio, and Taos Clay will be closed for 3 weeks. She apologized, but it was way too late for us to plan any other activity for the day.

They worked me in for a little class, and even bisqued my 2 pinch/coil pots in time before I had to leave Taos. They gave me a Great Tour (when they were Closed! --and while there, claying, and I totally enjoyed a solo clay exhibit by one of their "intern/associates"? Great Folks. ~eva from Tucson

My friends and I had the best time learning about firing pottery and trying to form it on the wheel. It is very gratifying to produce something and not simply to consume. Greyson was a patient instructor with a fabulous sense of humor as well as an extremely talented young artist. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything! Be sure to wear clothes that can get messy. All studio staff were so friendly and helpful. This will be a must-do when I return to Taos.

Attended the "Throw and Fire" pottery class in February 2019 - would DEFINITELY recommend as a fun and creative thing to do, perfect for the very artsy Taos community. I initially hesitated because of the high price but once I took the class and saw the materials, equipment, expertise, and 2.5-hour timeframe involved, was less concerned about it. Spent about 30 minutes selecting pieces and glazing (three glaze selections to choose from and you could use multiple glazes on one piece if desired). While the pieces were in the kiln, we got a lesson on the wheel. Our teacher, Sarah, was excellent. Extremely patient and very informative and fun. Walked us through every step and very attentive along the way. She was happy to be hands off or to get involved and help you with your experimentation. She kept supplying us with clay on our wheels as long as we wanted to keep trying it. Our glazed pieces came out about 90 minutes later, and then we had to wait 10 minutes while they were in the trash cans, eliminating the oxygen and completing the raku finish. Then everyone's pieces were unveiled, cleaned, and wrapped.
My only suggestion would be to advertise the class as 2.5 hours. I appreciated the extra time needed for the firing and am glad we went long, but since my family was on a somewhat tight travel schedule, the extra 30 minute delay caused us a little stress.

I was in Taos temporarily. My friend and I were aching to make something, so we bought weeklong memberships, which is the highest paying membership as far as I know. We were limited on time, but the one manager who left mid-experience was very helpful and encouraged us by stating they could work with our firing needs and ship our finished products later. The studio lacked the organization to get the firings done when they were promised and although we filled out very extensive shipping forms (with number of items, our signatures, and many other notes), the lack of organization led them to sending me someone else's work, not sending everything of mine to me, and not sending everything of my friend's to her (we are both still missing pieces). Once the helpful manager left, the owner became the person to take on the task, but at one point I was made to believe by the owner that many of my things were a lost cause. Thankfully the girl whose stuff was sent to me found some of my missing things. The owner made it extremely challenging to ship back this girl's stuff and she took over a month to ship the rest of my pieces to me. Even though I filled out all that info, she had to ask me for my address and everything that was already made clear. She also haphazardly packed the pieces and most of them ended up with a chip from the travel. Their classes seem fun and the studio space seems useful if you're living there. I do not recommend using the space when passing through or relying on them to ship anything.
