I had never made the link in my mind between Clovis man in the history of America, and Clovis, New Mexico where I was visiting the Cannon AFB. What a wonderful find.

This small, obscure museum sites unsuspectingly in little more than a highway rest area. One may not even realize what it is but the history of North American and human migration is undisputed. This one site alone has evidence for the human inhabitants of North American during the time of the last Ice Age when large mega fauna roamed the... More

Between Clovis and Portales sits this small museum about the history of the area including Clovis man and mammoths. It's simple enough and cheap enough to take the children and not blow your budget.

March 8, 2016 Website was confusing, but we we entered this museum into our GPS and a couple of locations came up. Since it is associated with the campus of Eastern New Mexico University we went to the one that appeared to be on campus. As we drove down the main road of the campus we got all excited when... Very educational. Lots of good information and interesting displays. Fossils you can actually touch. And the video is worth the watch.

Lots of artifacts and history for the "Clovis" people. Many human remains along with remains of a mammoth. The Blackwater Draw Site is included with the ticket to the museum and you must see both. The site offers a few walking trails and has an exhibit at the bottom where bones are currently being excavated. Note: The Blackwater Draw Site... More

Wow! The sheer number of artifacts located here is astounding. The displays are beautiful (wish the info could be mire comprehensive) and well presented. Excellent video. Great curator; very enthusiastic and welcoming. The history we have in this country is incredible. Learn some of it here cause they don't teach it in schools. Winter hours are reduced. Closed Mondays. $3.00... More

This museum is THE museum to see the remains, and learn the history, of the Clovis people. This museum gives a great overview of the area and tells you what you can experience at the Blackwater Draw site.

Stop here and do some reading, then go on to the Dig site. Look up the address before you go, or you'll miss this little building set off the road. Friendly staff, some books and postcards for purchase. A part of America's History here!
