Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was overwhelmed by the richness of the history that lies within this museum. Traditional masks and handicrafts, bronze relics and even a 17th century machine gun!

If visiting Trongsa this is a must to see. You will be shown a great 20 minute video on Bhutan’s culture , and religious heritage right up to present day.
Then the displays / artifacts are amazing to view.
The panoramic views from the top of the tower are fabulous. Unfortunately you are not allowed cameras in so just be in the moment and enjoy.
Pictures are of the views outside the Tower.

One of the highlights of our 14 days in Bhutan. If you have an interest in how Buddhism arrived, its many faces and its impact on Bhutan and the history of the Royal Family, you cannot afford to miss this site.
Very well done and comprehensive labeling in English to give you a basic insight into the world of Buddhism. One can understand how it is a way of life rather than a religion afetr visiting here.

This was a really interesting place with a short film giving you a brief overview of the Bhutanese royal family, many items in the museum donated from the Royal family

This tower was built to watch over the Dzong but has now been converted to a museum. The artifacts are very interesting and there is a magnificent view from the top of the tower.

This looks like it was an awesome attempt to chronicle some of Bhutan's history in the old tower overlooking the Trongsa Valley and the Trongsa Dzhong below. It is worth a stop - some of the exhibits are mind-blowing, such as the clothing on display which is 500 years old and looks like it was only bought yesterday. Amazing. A few of the exhibits were missing, but overall, make sure that you take the time to stop here and get a dose of Bhutanese history.

Small, logically appointed , interesting museum should definitely be on your Trongsa list of places to see. Make sure if able you attempt to walk all the way from the Dzong up and up the numerous stairs to the tower. Make it a part of the experience. The Tower was once a watch tower for the Dzong .The visit starts from patriotic and informative short movie presentation explaining the history and Bhutan's love affair with Buddhism. There is a small gift shop and a restaurant but it serves only pre-booked meals.

This museum has some very nice artifacts from different eras of Bhutan's history. A lot of the royal family's personal effects are on display and it has some wonderful statues of Buddha in his various incarnations. Don't miss it if you are in Trongsa and spend a while when you get to the top of the watch tower (the museum is in the watch tower).

This place holds some of the most precious relics of the Kingdom of Bhutan - If you like seeing museums then you have to go there. I cover everypart of thir culture from food, clothing, war, lifestyle and history. Once you climb up to the watchtower the views will knock you out. It is unfortunate though that you are not allowed to take photos from and of the inside of the museum.

This museum was one of the highlights of our tour of Bhutan. The interior of the ancient tower was redone in an absolutely stunning manner. It not only allows for the display of the artifacts but the reno itself it very well done. The artifacts, originals from the local dzong, were all restored to their original state. I did not see any other artwork that came close to matching their beauty. Do not miss this museum.
