Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Coral reef great for snorkeling. Full of beautiful fish. Amazing white sand and very warm sea. Booked a tour with John's Tours. A lot of tourists on boats but still nice.

Tremendous and peacelful little island. You could snorkle and swim in turquoise clear water. Must go place if you go on the island trip.

We opted for a trip round the island with one of the locals so had a small basic boat to ourselves. It was a very economical option and much cheaper than the arranged tours (about £16 for the two of us). Whilst we accept that you are not getting the same facilities or lunch, you do get the freedom of doing and going where you want and are not stuck to a rigid timetable. We arranged to do some fishing prior to leaving and the equipment and bait were provided as was snorkelling gear. Limited English was a bit of a challenge at times but we noted that a couple who had hired a speed boat for the day were struggling more so than us and had paid substantially more for their trip.
We visited a number of islands including fingernail island. Most have no facilities but you can get something to eat and drink on fingernail. Whilst there are some very beautiful places and there is a lot of potential, the beauty of them is often lost amongst the rubbish and litter, particularly at the back of the beach, which is a real shame. Nevertheless we enjoyed the trip and thought it offered good value for money.

No doubt the water is clear emerald green and the rock formation (around 300m in length) is a pretty sight BUT.... there is just a very small stretch of beach. With the many food stalls setting up dining tables, the area is littered with food and empty beer cans and bottles. During peak season, it is really difficult to set your picnic mat to lay down, without getting trampled on! The mini-jetty and the many small boats anchoring on the beach, makes the swimming area even more narrow.
The other islands have similarly clear waters, and it is cheaper to go to. Fingernail Island is just a hype, just because someone wrote about it many years ago, when it was still peaceful and quiet.
Do note that snorkeling in Phu Quoc is not fantastic, unlike in East Coast Peninsular Malaysia and perhaps the small islands near Bali and Philippines.... rich in marine life.
We paid USD22/person for a day trip of a 30min sea fishing experience, snorkeling on Fingernail Island, Dam Ngang Island, Sao Beach with bus&boat transfers and lunch included.

We spent a day island hopping. Our guide took us to the best islands, and got several shots of us that were great. We held a sea urchin, ate some crabs directly from the beach, and went snorkeling. Skip the big ship unless you're into partying with foreigners and opt for a private tour with a Vietnamese guide. The cost will be significantly lower and will give a more romantic feel for a couple.

So we opted for a full day cruise to all three islands (I’ll look up the name of the company and update my review)
The waters are that insane perfect turquoise around these islands. Snorkeling is okay over here. There is some cool coral and fish to see. Most people stay on the small beach, but you can explore the rest of the island. It’s honestly shocking how much trash fills up the island just beyond the perfect beach. As we approached one of the islands we saw some interesting cool rocky cliffs and so we set off to explore them once we made it to shore. We had to walk through a lot of trash to get to them. But it was worth it when we did.

One of the most beautiful and exotic Vietnamese isles around Phu Quoc!!! A little day boat trip can take you easily there!!! However signs of tourism exploitation are appearing fast everyone!!!
