Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful house, beautifully maintained. It's interesting to wander around for 10 or 15 minutes, but it's not really set up as a proper museum. You have to look at the pictures and imagine the story line. Worth a visit, as it's free to enter, but not worth a special trip to Nakhon.

If you are passing by, it is worth stopping to have a look. There is no charge to get in & it's well restored. Not worth a detsour.

The Baan Tan Khun is small but lovely. More interesting than Wat Phra Maharat next door, in my opinion.

Simply can't understand the reviewers who have said that this beautiful house is not worth a detour. It is an old merchants house and has been beautifully restored by a local lady and her family.
The inside is gorgeous and has interesting photos and other furniture all very tastefully and stylishly done.
We were lucky to be able to talk to the daughter of the owner who has spent time in England and America and who of course speaks fluent English. That added to our interest and she was able to point out some of the main features.
In any event this is a beautiful restoration and well worth a visit. Excellent.

This house was built 103 years ago and was used as school in 1949. The building had been renovated again in 1993 and is opened for public to present Pan Yah style architecture. Open from 8am to 5pm.

A very well maintained traditional grand house. Worth a look and a walk around ( it's free) but not a lot to see or much information.

This is an interesting and historically genuine house from a past age, but there's not a lot to see, nor is there a lot of information available for foreign tourists.

If you have half and hour or so to spare and you are in the vicinity of Wat Phra Mahathat,it's worth crossing over the road and visiting Baan Tan Khun. This house has been well restored and conserved and is traditional Thai style architecture at its best.
It doesn't take that long to walk around but the furniture has some exquisite detail and is worth a close look. There are a number of fascinating old photographs hanging on the walls. It's light and airy with an interesting history.
There's no charge for admission.
