Had 5 days of downtime with the family and was really looking forward to our beachfront place.
Khanom is the sleepy village as advertised although developers are already making there mark - things are changing.
The surprise for me was the state of the beaches- if you want to see human impact on the environment go to Khanom
I have not seen rubbish to this level anywhere else in Asia- it was awful.
We took to picking up rubbish everyday to try and alleviate the problem but it would need an army.
Really disappointing that a beautiful area has been ruined.
I really wish I could recommend Khanom but the dirty beaches were to much for us

I walked for kilometers in either direction on empty beach. Restaurants dotted the beach along the way. It was a refreshing change from the noise and throng of people on Samui. If you're into nightlife or bars, Khanom beach is not for you. Everyone I met in Khanom, along the beach and in the restaurants, was friendly and engaging. I will go back.

Miles of unbroken beach with gorgeous soft sand and fantastic crashing waves. Views out to sea are wonderful and you're surrounded by hills on all sides. You can pop into beach bars for a drink, but otherwise it is beautifully quiet.

The is a really cool beach.Clean and blue water. Once can relax in this beach.I would go back next time for sure.

a new hotel at nai ploa beach X-sea hotel has just opened and is fabulous certainly the best accommodation in the area all rooms have sea view and well appointed the manager knows his stuff and runs a very good product.Buffet breakfast included, and they can arrange transport to and from airports.They are doing promotions on price at the moment so get in quick I give this hotel 4/12 stars areal treat to stay there.

Love all the beaches in Khanom, they were very quiet. Nice sand beach for families with kids, would recommend Khanom over Phuket in a heartbeat.

Just a dream... Totally different from crowded Samuel. Beaches are desert, clean and very pleasant for long strolls. No coral reefs and sandy bottom are a safe cocktail for kids

Beautiful stretch of unspoiled beach. Very few places to stay. DO NOT recommend Aava. Way too expensive for what you get. Recommend one of the local resorts. Thong Yee seafood the BEST place to eat.

This is a remarkably nice place to visit with the family. It was so quiet but still with nice restaurants. The beach was clean and the water was clear on the first 2 days so I think it has something to do with the weather. Not Andaman island quality but we loved it.

My first visit to Khanom beach and certainly wont be the last.
The long stretch of soft sand, white beach is extremely quiet and surprisingly clean. Not too much of plastic rubbish lying on the beach unlike what I have seen in other places in Thailand. Even on a Saturday the beach and hotel was not too busy, with mostly Thai people from nearby areas visiting this place.
During my visit (November 2019) the waves were breaking to the shore and hence the water was not clear but I guess during other time of the season the sea and beach must be nice and quiet.
A bit surprised by the hotel rates that are a little pricey.
