Our driver Sajeed picked us up in Islamabad and we headed north through some of the most amazing scenery on the planet along the Karakoram Highway. Then it was across the top of Pakistan to Chitral and down to Peshawar via the incredible Kalash Valley. What a trip and what a fantastic driver … Sajeed spoke good English and negotiated some very tricky highways (and police checkpoints) with ease. He was very flexible with the itinerary too … if we decided we wanted to do a hike instead it was never a problem. We never felt rushed, or that we were missing out on anything significant. I highly recommend Hunza Discovery Tours if you want to visit some of the most incredible country there is.…

Hunza Discovery Tours / Snow Leopard Tours organized for me a solo two weeks tour in Northern Pakistan with a driver (Ferman) and a guide (Majeed). Six months before my trip I got in contact with Iman Rahim, the owner, who proposed me different itineraries to cover the main spots in Gilgit Baltistan. He was also very flexible to fit his initial proposal into my budget. If you want to get the most of Northern Areas probably the only way is having your own 4x4 and a driver. Ferman and Majeed made me feel so safe and comfortable all the time. We do have a program and a fixed itinerary but they both were open to some changes when I felt tired or just in the mood for something different. Thank you so much for you patient! Probably one of the highlights of my trip is that Hunza Discovery Tours is a company run by locals, so it gives me the chance to get deep into local culture and understand the complexity of the different people (tribes, language, religion, etc.) living in Gilgit Baltistan. After my tour trip I stayed ten days more visiting other areas of Pakistan traveling on my own by public transportation. During this time Ferman and Majeed keep contacting me to be sure everything was going OK and I do not need any help. My pakistani experience wouldn't have been so perfect without their help. …

Organised a 2 week trip with Snow Leopard Tours in Australia- Hunza Discovery Tours is their in-country agency. Prior to the trip the communication was excellent- timely, thorough and really helpful. We were given a great itinerary based on what we wanted- to start in Skardu (where we would be post K2/Gondogoro La trek with another company) and delivering us to the Khunjerab Border into China. The price was very competitive and we tweaked the itinerary over a few weeks. Payments were smooth and we received good info/documentation and assistance in securing our China and Pakistan visas. We were actually met by our guide- Karim Baig and driver- Niaz at the hotel the night before our trip and arranged for pick up the next morning. Karim was in close communication via WhatsApp. We had an early issue with my travel buddies health which was managed superbly well by Karim and the Skardu Army Hospital but were on our way soon after the all clear. Our itinerary included Khaplu, trekking Fairy Meadows, Deosai NP, Karimabad, Aliabad, Hunza and the upper Hunza including Shimshal Valley, where we visited all of the main forts and historical attractions, many villages, local families (including a wonderful lunch with Karim's family in their home), we trekked villages and glaciers, saw Nanga Parbat up close, Rakaposhi, etc. We also trekked the bridges from Passu to Hussaini and so much more. Our accommodations were generally great and varied. We opted to include breakfast and dinner and we could choose all of our meals without issue. Karim was excellent- knowledgeable, fun, respectful, caring and all round excellent. We had 2 drivers in the end- Niaz and Farman who were both excellent and had really good, comfortable vehicles. The entire trip went so well and I can absolutely recommend the company as well as most of the places we stayed- I am endeavouring to review them all separately. Pakistan was such a great destination- would love to go again one day. Happy to take questions. Wish I could add more photos!…
