The USS Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It is also one of the best sunken ship wrecks in the world! If you come to Bali, you absolutely have to dive there The liberty ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo then was beached near Tulamben. In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung caused the vessel to slip off the beach, and it now lies on a sand slope in 9 to 30 m of water. The wreck is about 130 m long with the shallowest part at about 5 m deep and the deepest on the other side of the wreck at about 30 m deep.

We were staying on the north coast so we took our own snorkel gear and just took a taxi out to the site. We knew the wreck was just offshore - but it can be hard to find if you don't know the area. We...More

Did diving at the Liberty wreck several times, easy shore entry dive spot. Sometimes a bit crowded , so best time to dive is early morning. Although it's an easy dive spot, there is always something to see, and never really gets boring exploring this...More

Really worth visiting, nice wreck which can be reached from the shore. It is even possible to snorkel there.

We did 2 dives on the Liberty, one after sunset. Where we spotted the big Napleons hiding during the day we encountered them at night. Murray eals hunting, groupers crossing and much more seen. We used Bali Reef Divers to do these dives. Top location!

Only snorkeled and brought our own gear. arrived at high tide and was still able to see the wreck and dive down and touch the hull. Best to arrive at low tide for a better view and experience. That's what we plan next year.

A great and easily accessible wreck to explore a huge array of colourful, friendly fish and marine life. I would imagine a scuba dive here would be even better as I could only snorkel the wreck just below the surface & it looked very intriguing...More

Let's face it, this is the biggest draw card of diving in Tulamben, and quite rightly so. Amazing wreck dive right off the shore and teaming with marine life. Dived it multiple times and still not bored! There are also other great sites of course,...More

Yes you can. I stayed at the ocean sun resort and could hire snorkel and dive gear from the resort. I’m pretty sure you had to go out with a guide though.

Yes/No. If not certified then you will have to do a "Try dive/Discover Scuba" course. This is an all day affair and involves some theory and pool work before diving. You will then dive with an instructor to a max 12m. The... More
