Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

These trips with Jeff and Dawn are great trips. Both from the perspective of just being there and relaxing and having a fine time, and also from having great dives as photographers. Of course, the photo coaching from experts and all that side of things is a bonus as well.

For years I had struggled with my poor underwater photography skills. I decided to sign up for Jeff's course hoping he could shed some light on what I was doing wrong. After spending just one day with him and his lovely wife, Dawn, my pictures were 100 times better!!! Jeff is knowledgeable about everything to do with cameras and photography. He's so patient and encouraging. I wish I had taken his class years ago!

Jeff has a lifetime of professional experience with UW photography - not sure how long he has been teaching but seemed to me he is a master of instruction as well.
I had been wanting to take an UW photo course for some time, and the (many) emails back and forth organising were dealt with quickly and professionally.
Jeff himself is a gentleman and a scholar and the day went without a hitch.
The course I did was detailed and thorough, but by far the most appealing aspect to me was that everything we covered was specifically tailored to my experience, my skill level and my equipment.
Too often instructors (in any field) can cover things generically, but with each bit of information and technique Jeff patiently and clearly linked it back practically to my individual camera setup, making it all very easy to absorb and very efficient learning.
The practical dive part left me with some excellent snaps and a real confidence with my gear and technique. I could not believe the pics I was seeing in the back of the camera - couldn't stop smiling underwater!
Cannot recommend this course highly enough - thankyou mate, great to meet you and I look forward to coming back to do another course with you soon!

First, Jeff and Dawn are such nice, helpful and kind people. I contacted Jeff as he was my only hope to get silica gel packs in Tulamben. I bought them and he brought them at my hotel. While discussing, he gave me good advices and basically, these advices were answers to most of my questions.
I decided to take a lesson with him as I really wanted to understand better how to use my camera underwater. I spent the morning going through theory and the features of my camera : don't worry about the theory. It's 100% interesting and fascinating as Jeff is a great teacher.
In the afternoon, the second part of the training is underwater. And then, my pictures changed : colors, depth of field, focus. A great step forward. And Jeff knows how to give you models to inspire you (I love these Harlequin shrimps soooo much).
If you want to improve your underwater photography, if you want to share your concerns and problems with your camera, don't look anywhere else. Jeff will share his passion with you and change your photography.
Thanks Jeff and Dawn.

I am a very experienced (and reasonably competent) photographer.
However, I have benefited immensely from the tuition and friendly discussions with Jeff (and Dawn).
Jeff is an accomplished underwater photographer, who is delighted to help students of all levels.
He and Dawn dive almost every day in the Tulamben area, so are intimate with local dive sights, conditions, and which critters live where.
For me, Jeff's very reasonable fees have always resulted in better knowledge of my underwater equipment, and improved images.
Very highly recommended to underwater photographers of all skill levels. You'll always learn something from Jeff.

I’m so happy I took the course with Jeff (and Dawn) as it made the difference to my photos.
I am highly satisfied with the results...some of my friends thought I turned “pro” :-)
Jeff is very experienced, knowledgeable, professional, patient and fun instructor. He took the time answering my “burning” questions about camera, strobes etc. that can never be found in manuals or google.
Jeff also gives honest recommendation on various products/accessories as opposed to others who does sales pitch.
The course was also structured in a very comfortable, easy-to-follow manner, suitable even for beginners. Highly recommended.

I have been struggling with taking underwater photos since I purchased a strobe 1.5 years ago but after a day of instruction from Jeff I feel much more confident and my photos prove it!! He has an ability to teach effectively and efficiently and the one-on-one instruction left me with the knowledge of what to do with my camera- not just the theory of what to do. Jeff and Dawn have a very friendly, warm manner. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them and hope to see them again on a liveaboard trip!

How good are Jeff & Dawn at giving you the knowledge to do UW Photography?
I would say the best, most patient, most understanding, most enjoyable people to learn from and to be involved with.
This was my second course with them, last year I did Macro and this year Wide angle/Fish eye. And my pictures have become 1000% better than what I had been doing.
To Jeff & Dawn I cannot thank you enough, we will have to come on a live aboard next time to learn more and enjoy the trip.
Cheers & thanks Jeff & Dawn.

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to be able to spend two days refining my underwater photography skills with Jeff and Dawn Mullins. It was without doubt the most rewarding and easy to comprehend course I have ever done and that is 100% down to the teaching styles of Jeff and his right hand woman Dawn. The great thing about this course is that is tailored to the students wants and to their level of experience and understanding which allows each student to walk away feeling like they can take their photography to the next level.
I can not talk more highly of my time with Jeff and Dawn and I can't wait to come back in the future to further enhance my work.
Thanks guys!!!

Fantastic experience from beginning to end. Jeff organised everything from a driver, great accommodation, expert guide for extra diving and superb weather! Jeff is a patient teacher and wife, Dawn, is an obliging underwater model. We covered wide angle and macro. Although I have been using my camera for years, I saw instant improvement and learnt the Adobe Light Room program. Wished I done the course years ago. Looking forward to learning more from Jeff in the future. Highly recommend the two day, one-on-one course.
