- LissyLouLa2Western Australia, Australia35 contributionsBeautiful foodSuch a superb menu with a large range to suit all tastes. We both had fish dishes, one served in a mild curry, the other served Belgian style, enjoyed with a glass of top quality Margaret River wine at a budget price. Loved it...and the great cheerful service and ambience. Lovely quiet location away from traffic.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 September 2023
- Margaret SNapier, New Zealand593 contributionsThis is an evening beach to fly kites, throw a frisbee or laze around on.Although not safe to swim, this lovely area is typical of many beaches around Indonesia and Thailand. There’s always beach cushions and seats available while one has a drink. But, be careful of being bitten. Cover your lower back and thighs. There’s sand fire ants and possibly bedbugs in the beach cushions.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 October 2023
- Peter MMataram, Indonesia239 contributionsA fantastic beach experienceSeminyak beach is simply superb however prices are higher for everything compared to Kuta beach. There is a certain air of quality on this beach and the food in beachside cafes and bars is also of a superior quality. Staff are very competent and very very helpful in this area. Prices do reflect the quality of service and food. Beach sellers here are much more respectful and don’t pressure sell or continue to pester you.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 November 2023
- Steve H2 contributionsSeminyak Beach - not a particularly pleasant experience.Seminyak Beach is described as white sand - it is not! The sand is grey volcanic and, unfortunately, littered with debris from the hundreds of people who congregate on the beach, especially at the weekend. It is, however, a great spot for watching sunsets.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 January 2024
- Kassam A5 contributionsBreathtaking experienceBreathtaking and surreal views. The waves, sky and weather were stunning and watching the sunset was an amazing experience. The beach was tranquil and it was quiet at this time of year. We got to spend a lot of time bonding on the sun loungers during our honeymoon here. Coconut water was my favourite drink of the year because it was simply delicious.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 February 2024
- Lizzie A19 contributionsA weekend at the beachI have mixed feelings about this beach. The people that live and work at the beach and the surrounding area couldn't be more friendly and welcoming. However I don't know weather the time of year i visited (march) was the reason for a strong smell of sewage. The beach was also littered with rubbish and you could see the local people picking it up on a regular basis. The sea was clear and warm and was a surfers paradise. Sunsets were amazing and the food I had in the restaurants was some of the best around.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 24 March 2024
- LataVDubai, United Arab Emirates348 contributionsSun,Sand n moreSun,Sand,Surf amazing views, beautiful sunsets and more. A whole lot of beach restaurants line the edge of the ocean with live music, casual and formal seating options. Good place to enjoy everything a beach has to offer.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 March 2024
- Gladein AAustralia7 contributionsMixed FeelingsBeing an Aussie, I hold my beach experiences to a high standard. The positives: a welcoming atmosphere with pleasantly warm water (I only dipped my toes in), an array of shops and restaurants nearby for a picturesque sunset meal, and a relaxed vibe ideal for sunbathing. On the downside: constant vendors approaching as soon as you stop, debris and glass scattered on the beach making barefoot walks a bit hazardous, and the inconvenience of navigating around resorts that obstruct beach access. We limited our visits to just one stroll, opting for the safety of the hotel pool. This spot isn't the best for seeking peace and quiet.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 29 March 2024
- Shirin TVietnam160 contributionsNice place to hangoutBeautiful scenic beach. Not only you can visit beach but enjoy nightlife nearby and watch different live concerts. Mostly I liked to sit on bean bags and eat pizza. Undoubtedly, pizzas in Bali is very delicious. However here prices for food little bit higher than other beaches.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 July 2024

Stayed in Seminyak for 5 days. Visited the beach three times and very disappointed with the amount of plastics on the beach..never been anywhere and seen such an amount of plastics from high to low water. Tourists actually walking along picking up all the debris. There are tractors on the beach raking the sand but not picking up and debris. Find it hard to believe that the tourist board/government allow tourists to swim and paddle amongst this filth. The amount tourism brings to Bali then take some of your tourists money and pay local people to pick up the rubbish... the amount of rubbish on the beach depends upon rainfall flooding the rivers and taking it down to settle on the beaches. Anyone going in the sea comes face to face with the rubbish pity help any other unseen nasties are in the water...... expect a tourism tax to be incurred if action taken to clean up.

Nice sunsets, but when you look a little deeper, the beach is awash with plastic and ruccish that washes in. There are local dogs patrolling the beach, and while they don't interfere with you, they do leave their calling cards. The locals embrace tourists but the touters are also pests - no such thing as a quiet walk along the beach

During my Jan 2020 visit to Bal, we stayed in Seminyak and went to Seminyak each couple of times for the sunsets. Sunsets are beautiful, but it gets crowded and might come in the way of you enjoying a good sunset. the beach is not great for swimming as the waves could be be huge. there are good beach side restaurants where you can enjoy the sunset, like La plancha and Champlung.

The beach was a lot nicer than i expected. The water is warm and shallow with a decent surf. You would have to walk out quite a bit to get deep into the water.
The best part about this is the Sunset View, it's absolutely breathtaking.

Once you go past Legian beach you are on Seminyak Beach.
There are also some high end hotels on the vicinity and I noted that it was less busier here.
A nice place to have a stroll, popular with surfers and it was relatively clean.

Great place to watch sunset, get some cold ones and chill with your partner. It was almost empty due to pandemic time, but as we read usually its very busy, especially for sunset time. Beach is very long, sand is nice and waves were to too big as in Kuta beach. Definitely will recommend to all my friends!

After hearing so much about Bali my wife and i visited January 2020. What a disappointment. While the sunsets are great with lots of bars serving sundowners the beach itself sucks. While many beaches are now proud owners of similar tar ball issues to also have the stinky sewer lines draining onto the beach is a big disappointment.

Purposely chose Seminyak beach of all places in Bali for my trip as I wanted to learn surfing (first timer) and heard the food/drinks options are great. It was the right decisions. The beach was beautiful, lively but not so crowded. Many drink stalls along the main stretch of the beach (near La Plancha) which also rented out beach chairs for you to sit down and the staff were always ready to tell a tales or two to entertain you. The surfing booths were everywhere but not all of them are reputable so do your research before hand. Swimming is possible but try to void those places with warning flag and those with a lot of surfers.

Seminyak beach is amazing. Totally comparable to most famous Caribbean and and Dominican Republic beaches! We toured many beaches in Bali and Seminyak is the best in my judgement for a few reasons
1) it is Flat!
2) It is hard enough to run on and walk for miles and miles!
3) The expanse of the beach area is very large and can accommodate thousands!
4) Accessibility is easy, convenient and safe but subject to where you are staying.
5) Night time brings amazing g life to the beach areas and restaurant scene.
6) Safety with most areas lit up.

Seminyak beach is a truly beautiful stretch of beach.
At sunset, to sit and "see the day out", with or without a sundowner in the hand, is really fantastic.
The water is nice and the waves even more so.
However, the beach is littered with plastic bags and what not, eventhough the local authority has frequent motorised beach cleaning throughout the day. It is such a pity!

Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows if it's safe to travel to Bali regarding the corona virus? Me and my boyfriend are traveling April 3, and have already bought our tickets. Should we be concerned about the virus spreading there, and does anyone know what happens if flights get cancelled?
Written 29 February 2020
There are no corona virus cases in Bali or Indonesia. I just got back and everything was fine. Yes, there are coughing Chinese people on planes and a few were denied entry into Bali a week ago. I had one next to me on the flight from LAX to SYD. I would suggest flying through Sydney instead of Hong Kong or Taiwan to minimize the risk. My main concern would be the stop over, not Bali.
Also realize that travel insurance will not help you. I bought travel insurance through Allianz for the Tokyo Olympics, and they just told me that there is no coverage if it is related to the corona virus. They have exclusion in most policies for epidemics. I would have never bought the worthless Allianz insurance if I would have known that.
Definitely go, but take plenty of hand sanitizer.

To avoid the stinky canal during sunset I went to Botanica but got sick from the alcohol. It appears it only happened there as i tried La lucciola and Mano but no issues. Is this an isolated event?
Written 24 September 2019
I think it was an isolated case. The beach bars at Seminyak are all pretty careful to maintain there quality because of the competition along the beach.

I'm planning a trip in early september. Any one been there at that time? Is there a lot of garbage on the beach then?
Written 1 March 2019
Hello Timothy, i have never been early september but from the middle off oktober. It is sadly to say that there is al to off garbage on the beach in the evening and morning but that depends off the weather and the wind, but do not worry about the garbage. Early in the morning the people off Balido their utmost to ensure that all the dirt is gone and the tourists can enjoy from a beautiful beach and the sea.

What should I pay in Aus dollars for a lounge chair and umbrella for a few hours at double six beach Seminyak

Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate!
Pretty much a rule of thumb is only pay 1/3 of what is first asked. Certainly NEVER any more than that at markets. If you have a price in mind, and they are asking CONSIDERABLY more, drop your opening offer to 20% of what they're asking. Bartering/bargaining is fun - not for some, though - and can get you an absolute bargain. Never feel pressurised...not sure? Walk on.
