We entered the park not knowing what to expect. Nobody advised us that the roads were of a very poor quality and it got worse. We did not make the full circuit as we really needed a 4x4. Signposting not good lost completely for a while and only got back by following another car. Not for the faint hearteddetails.

Take your time and very large tele lenses because there is not much to see. The signalling around the park is somewhat unclear and confusing.

This was our first trip into a park and was quite disappointing. Very few animals on view compared to later trips we made. It was very cheap to enter which I supposed reflected this.

We stopped at Bontebok park on our first day of the drive out to the Garden Route. Saw some bontebok which we didn't see anywhere else in South Africa. The road are rough and I would agree with other reviewers that the signage could be greatly improved as well as the instructions at reception. We find it very confusing that... More

Having had wonderful experiences at Kruger & also West Coast National Park, this one let the team down. 1. Disinterested welcome - lady took our 180 rand & gave a very quick, & not very clear explanation of the abridged route she recommended after recent rain. 2. Poor signage - particularly the Acacia walk (the shortest which perhaps older folk... More

What a great place. We managed to see lots of Bonteboks as well as lots of birds and the rare cape zebra. Don't miss a walk along the river.

We had a great afternoon here, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the roads around the park were good after some rain even in our VW Polo . Some amazing birds, and some Bontebok.

Don't go there if you are prepared to get lost and have a 4x4. At reception asked if paths are clearly marked, the answer was yes!! On our self drive excursion we followed a map trying to figure how to get to the viewing decks. Signs are there but not helpful as they just say "viewing deck" but not arrows... More

A small specialised national park specialising in the conservation of the Bontebok - but there are other species in the park. Accommodation is in spacious self catering chalets (or in a caravan park). Limited walking and or cycling is allowed

Not a huge park like Kruger, but very nice for a different afternoon. We also had a picnic in a proper area watching bonteboks all around us.
