Lovely drive through the park although very saddened to see the awful mound of plastic littered all over the waste disposal site near the entrance to the nature reserve. South Africans have a long way to go when it comes to respecting a reduce reuse...More

Special mention must be made of this park. It is a labour of love, we loved it and would recommend highly!

We arrived to Swellendam on Sunday afternoon so there weren't a lot of things we could do so we drove to the Bontebok park. Drove there for about an hour and than went for a hosrt circular trail which was nice.

Very extensive and for many it is best enjoyed by car although there are plenty of walking trails for the more adventurous. Signage is very poor and it is so easy to get lost. Plenty of Bontebok to see.

We have visited this park several times during the past nearly fifty years and each visit was a disappointment. If you are lucky to see animals they are miles away. We will not go again.

Expensive for international visitors. Poor map and confusing signposting. Directed, at the office, to best bird viewing site at the park.....never found it! Wildlife sightings poor, few antelopes and zebra just about visible with ×12 image stabilising binoculars. Few interesing birds, but nothing we hadn't...More

We found this a good intro to a game drive for young kids. Took a while to spot the wildlife but after the first sighting they were there in abundance.

We stayed over for the weekend and took two long drives through the park. It is South Africa's smallest National Park, though you get to see quite a few animals. We saw three different types of buck (seeing Bontebok up quite close), a secretary bird,...More

IsabellaNicole - looks like your question was answered before asked :-) I would form part of the group saying you should get a car from Swellendam or ask your hosts to take you, and even then the entrance (in April) not... More

When we visited three weeks ago that was not necessary. I don't know about now with the South African Xmas holidays, but would still think it is not necessary.
