This former government building, an architectural treasure in itself, is now a museum containing some impressive artifacts. Particularly noteworthy is a collection of late 18th and early 19th century Cape furniture.

Have been to Swellendam for years and never knew about this gem! It's like walking back in time and finding a wonderful garden setting. Had a beautiful, tasty pizza and cold meat platter and divine G+T. Can imagine long, lazy afternoons in this gorgeous setting.

Well maintained museum, interesting information of how it originated. The displays good. Not enough time to go to the gaol (Jail). Barn was ok but nothing to write home about.

A small but very excellent Museum complex with seperate buildings along the main street; carefully restaurated houses and former office buildings invite for a historic review of this area.
