About
Turn off the Sir Lowry's Pass Village Road and enter the Waterkloof gates, and a lane of trees beckon towards the hills, where a total sensory experience awaits. The road meanders through an amphitheatre flanked by reclaimed fynbos and immaculately kept vineyards, before arriving at our state-of-the-art cellar. A sign welcomes you to our tasting lounge. Stop for awhile outside and breathe deeply. Fill your soul with the views over the surrounding Schaapenberg Hills and the waters of False Bay down below. Now enter the main area, designed to hold you in awe, showcasing the sincere, clean essence of our Old World-style wines. Tall glass walls allow views of both the working cellar and the farm below, while raw concrete columns frame artworks from well-known South African artists.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Brilliant wine tasting and food experience with outstanding views.
What a treat Waterkloof was. The tasting room is sublimely decorated and the view from the deck was excellent. We each had the very reasonably priced 6 wine tasting menu with a shared platter which all came to a little on R450.
Our server, Kudzai was outstanding. She was the perfect blend of attentive without being annoying. She seemed to appear with a fresh bottle at exactly the right time. She is an absolute asset

Having eaten in the restaurant at Waterkloof 5 years ago, we were excited to return to Chorus. It really really is a beautiful and impressive location.
The food however was significantly better in the past. Such amazing produce is available in the region, however the food generally lacked flavour. The focus seems to be on visual appeal at the expense of flavour. The quail starter in particular was tasteless. The main courses were the best.
There is a super wine choice - and great value.
Service is mixed. The waitress was excellent and her rather surly male colleagues would benefit from some coaching from her.
Perhaps this restaurant will ‘find its way’ and return to its former glory. I genuinely hope so.

Only the view is cool. Otherwise, the service is poor and arrogant. Reserved for 6 people, table was only suitable for a maximum of 4 people. The food was just okay. There are definitely better locations. I could write a novel about this place, but it's not worth my time... In conclusion, I advise against visiting. Not worth the money.

We had the bigger degustation menu, claims nine courses but with three ‘pre-starters’ and four ‘petit-fours’ to end plus a palate cleaner it is more like 15! Fabulous, all of them. Deservedly in the country’s top three restaurants. And do have the Cinsault wine, a treat. Give the lunch four hours as we did, you’ll need the time to digest it all.

We came here because we’ve drunk their lovely Circle of Life Sauvignon Blanc in the UK and we’re wowed by the location.
It’s fabulous with views of False Bay and an impressive open winery where you can see the vines and the processing inside.
Wish we had eaten it’s the no 3 restaurant in South Africa.
Also it’s so easy to get to from Cape Town airport. Next time will overnight in Somerset West and get a taxi here to appreciate more of the wines.

This restaurant is around 2 hours +drive from Cape Town . Yes, it’s far but the view is stunning. The interior design is extraordinary and stylish . Food is not the best but good . For appetiser , I like the egg and the mushroom ; For main course I like the deer meat , curry fish , desert not bad but not special. Food rate is 4.x . View is 5 points , service is 4 or slightly below as it’s kind of slow . If u are going to or living at the winery area, going to cape point or going to shark cage tour . Or going to see Penguins , this one is possible to put add onto the itinerary but still need a little detour . I rank this number 3 among all restaurants that I tried at Cape Town. I think it’s Worth going If u like to eat good food at a beautiful place for little among if money . Ps. Lunch is much cheaper than dinner

The staff were extremely professional, knowledgable and willing to help with any request. The view is astonishing and the food exceeds expectation. I had the Tuna, followed by the Seabass and a delightful desert. This was one of my more remarkable culinary experiences at price which is affordable. Simply put, put it on your to-do list!!

A friend recommend this place. We knew of the winery but not the food. Its like out of a magazine, and the taste is a perfect match. A little pricey, but if you want to be dazzled and have the chefs who prepare each course present the food too you, this is place. Spoil yourself, feel like a movie star!!!

We had lunch at Waterkloof and had a lovely experience. Waterkloof is gorgeous in a contemporary building with fantastic views of both False Bays and the mountains. The inside of the restaurant is shared with a wine tasting room which lends some atmosphere and the art on the walls fits into the feel of the building.
We decided to have the Tasting Menu with wine pairings. Service was just about right, attentive enough without being overbearing. Each course was individually described by the waitron and the sommelier described the wine. We are glad we did not decide on the degustation menu as the additional amuse bouche or chef additions added up to a great experience. We stayed for a drink on the decking to take in the views. We were allowed to wander around the upstairs of the restaurant. The staff were very friendly. We bought two bottles of wine to take home. Overall a lovely meal at a decent price in a lovely setting.

Good day. Only our False Bay Chardonnay is unwooded. The Circumstance and Peacock Wild Ferment are both wooded, but not too heavily, as they spent time in older 600L barrels.
