About
Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning until 12 noon. We are located on the western outskirts of Sedgefield at the turnoff to Sedgefield Island. An award winning Garden Route landmark we are not to be confused with the Scarab Craft Market to the far east of Engen Petrol Station or the Mosaic Flea Market across the road from Wild Oats. As a food market, our open times are limited due to the short shelf-life of many of our LOCALLY PRODUCED products which include: Free-range chicken, beef, pork and lamb, free-range eggs, multiple cheese, dairy and baked products including fresh gouda, cheddar, blue-cheeses... milk, fresh fish, fruits, free-range & organic vegetables in season, many traditional and exotic bottled goods, organic olives, berries, rusks, koeksisters, biltong & wors, famous artisan breads, award-winning cheesecakes and goats cheeses... and on and on and on. Also a fabulous range of hot-off-the-grill breakfasts, coffees, teas and fresh-squeeze juices and smoothies. FOOD HEAVEN! Come face-to-face with our local food producers every Saturday morning, come rain or shine.

On a recommendation we went to the market and bought African table mats, carved animals, a picture, a wire Guinea foul and a boutique- there was live music and a great crowd, interesting vendors and some stunning food. Only managed some biltong as had to head off- next time lunch there. A really lovely place đź‘Ť

I love Wild Oats Market, and am a regular visitor there. The food stalls offer a fantastic selection of fresh produce, and items to eat for breakfast, or to take home.
However, there's a lady walking around telling people off in a very rude manner if they dare to drink a coffee standing up, and she is incessantly sorting out the rubbish bins, when someone mistakenly puts a dirty paper plate in a bin intended for plastics!
Last week at the market, there was a drunken car guard sitting on a log, who threatened us as wearied and got out our car He said he wants a tip for guarding the cars! Not good......

Loved the market and the friendly stall owners. However the lady at Cafe Espresso you need to do something about your people skills. Also charging an additional Rand for a coffee lid, really. Lastly I think you are in contravention of the banking code if you ask an additional 5% for credit card transactions. Otherwise great day had by all.

Great variety of foods.
Love coming here every year.
Wheelchair accessible.
Unfortunately very long queues - but great food takes time.
May need more seating areas and designated kids play area.

We always make sure our holiday dates fall on a Saturday so we can support this market. It was rainy, but did not dampen the spirit or the vibe. The stalls are well managed, and you can easily buy your weekly groceries here! The fresh bread stalls, the cheese stalls, and fresh veggies are great. We loved the Prince of Tarts (if I recall correctly) as well. The coffee stand is a highlight, and we had german hot dogs and pancakes. What a treat

Year offer year we go to this market to buy food and groceries for the week but also to have a relaxed breakfast with our dogs. We look forward to visiting wild oats on a Saturday for fresh fish and seafood, great indian food, delicious coffee , vegetables, fresh bread, honey and a lot more.
This year we happened to go after 15 December and it was unbearably full and not as pleasant as previous visits.Still the best food market though,

A visit to this market was recommended by our hosts at our accommodation and it certainly fulfilled our expectations. There was an amazing variety and amount of fresh, organic produce to delight the senses and a steady ebb and flow of visitors, creating a really vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommended to make time for a visit.

We drove from Knysna and defnititely not sorry at all. An amazing vibrant market with loads of locals attending as well. The food and music were so fabulous. We had German hot dogs, Moroccan chilli popper, biltong, loaded fries, juices and fresh oysters. The variety is never ending. A must do on the garden route.

Do yourself a favour, get up early on a Saturday morning and go to the Wild Oats farmers market. The products are really authentic and produced by locals from the community. I bought a few fynbos plants, and hopefully the proteas will provide my garden with a lot of colour. You should not miss the food stalls, I could not decide what to eat. I had a moroccan shwarma for breakfast.
All the stalls have information e.g organic, owner present at market, locally produced etc.
Go early and make sure you have enough cash with you.

Hi, the Wild Oats Community Farmers' Market is only open on a Saturday morning from 08:00 until 12:00.
The Mosaic Village & Outdoor Market is open from 07:30 until 16:00 Monday - Friday and from 08:00 until 14:00 on a Saturday. The Scarab Arts & Crafts Village is open from 08:00 until 13:30 on a Saturday. These markets are all in walking distance from one another and is situated on the right hand side of the N2 at the Engen Garage as you enter Sedgefield. Knysna is about 26km from Sedgefield. Wildernis is about 20km and George 35km. At George there is another market called the Outeniqua Farmers Market and they are also only open on a Saturday morning. It is worthwhile spending time in the area for these towns have a lot of other gems to offer.
I hope you'll find this information helpful.

Is the Market open on weekdays also or weekends only
Written 25 January 2017
Wild Oats is open every Saturday morning, come rain or shine, in summer from 7.30-12 noon and in winter, 8.00-12 noon. As a dedicated producers market, our vendors are busy organising, growing and preparing their goods during the week... their products are available only on a Saturday morning.
