Agriculture and a simple farm lifestyle is at the heart of Boschendal. One of the oldest farms in South Africa, founded 1685, the farm has grown with the passing centuries into a cherished source of wholesome produce, great wines and happy memories.

Set in the Drakenstein Valley surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, lush gardens and vines, the original farmstead complex is now a national monument with a rich and intriguing history of more than 300 years.

Today, Boschendal is a Cape winelands icon and a cherished wine and food destination. Our vineyards and fruit trees have been joined by vegetable gardens and a growing herd of free range, 100% pasture fed Angus cattle reflecting our commitment to serving wholesome farm-to-table food.

Guest accommodation is also a recent addition to the farm with luxurious cottage accommodation ranging from the exclusive and historic Rhodes Cottage built by Sir Herbert Baker to the elegantly restored Werf Cottages.

Cottage guests enjoy access to the entire farm where they can walk and cycle on trails through mountain fynbos, dine under the stars, have picnics and sundowners in exclusive areas, fly-fish in the dams and swim in pristine mountain water.

We love Boschendal and have been visiting for years. It remains unspoilt and has grown and evolved in a very sympathetic way to its character and environment. We thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting and the butchers shop is superb. Definitely worth a visit (or two)!

We had an absolutely lovely experience at Boschendal. It was our first stop on our wine tram tour (highly recommend the new purple line) - the setting was stunning and our wine specialist, Andre, was welcoming and knowledgeable. Boschendal will remain a "must visit", whenever we are in town again.

Excellent wine tour with lovely staff (ask for Ivan for a really personal tour), great setting and great wine. Don't miss the Blanc de Noir or the Farm Shop.

As this is one of our favourite vineyards it was great to visit - funnily we had some tea & a craft beer rather than wine - it was very relaxing to sit & take in the beautiful surroundings & we look forward to coming back for a meal (with wine!!!)

In all the years we have done wine tasting, we have never experienced anything like the chocolate and wine tasting at Boschendal. So interesting! Well worth doing.

The at-table picnic at the Boschendal wine estate has moved from it's attractive lawns and is now located next to the wine tasting area and shop. The old site is now (apparently) used as an alternative picnic site with bean bags. This an example of not letting well alone and making changes that did not seem necessary. We didn't like... More

Tourist trap. I was shocked to discover after purchase that they sell their wines at significantly lower prices around the corner or online in Europe (no custom fees),

A national treasure. Something for everyone here. Good premium accommodation and dining options and even mountain biking trials. Discovered this place after watching the cape epic MTb race on tv. Lovely shady trees. Had a good breakfast in the deli and a superb lunch in the werf restraunt. Right in the middle of the wine lands. Bring your camera. This... More

A beautiful venue and we were sat under a big oak tree during our wine tasting. We showed up without having a booking and luckily they were able to accommodate our group. I would definitely recommend making a booking when you go in a group. At the gate we were offered to go either for just wine tasting or for... More
