Really nice hike from Kogelberg to Harold Porter Botanical Gardens in Betty's Bay. Need to have two cars ideally one at each side. Have to walk from Kogelberg side. Did the hike with 3 kids ages 10-13 with no problems. Beautiful forest(Oudebos) in the valley walking up from Kogelberg. Took just over 3 hours, very steep section half way down... More

This reserve close to Betty's Bay (not Franschoek) is a must-see. We walked the Palmiet river trail with our three kids (8, 6 and 3) and loved it. The trail is beautiful with fynbos that will take your breath away. If you walk on the little walking trail there and back, it will be 14km. If you walk back on... More

Off the grid for a few days. We were party of 7 who rented two beautiful Eco cabins recently; these were quite different from each other in that ours had the bedrooms & bathrooms set apart from the kitchen, lounge and dining area with great outdoor braai area separating the two buildings. The weather was superb, so this was not... More

We had a great time at Kogelberg. We stayed in the Oudebosch Eco Cabins which were awesome! The cabins were fantastic, the views and hiking trails were spectacular and everything was exceptionally clean and well kept. I don't really know what I expected, but this exceeded my expectations. Can't wait to go back! My only criticism would be the long-drop... More

I am not sure why the listing is listed as Franschhoek: it is more than an hours drive from Franschhoek. The Nature reserve is in Kleinmond (not Keinmond) which is Hermanus area. The walk is beautiful once we had found the right location.

My sister, brother in law, my grown up son & I went for an amazing hike to a lovely little beach 2hrs in to the hike The hike is not at all treacherous but may be a bit tricky for some as a little scramble over a few rocks- but only a few... The walk is certainly not a boring... More

My second walk this year with The Fynbos Guy. Once again, Dominic did not fail to impress with his knowledge. He suggested that I would enjoy the Kogelberg Nature Reserve, and he wasn’t wrong. Advertised as ‘isolated and unspoilt’, I definitely agree. Talk about an exclusive walk, we had the whole place to ourselves during our 24km hike. And with... More

Do visit this magical place. I went in early Dec, a bit late for the finest floral display but still something different to look at ever few steps. I followed the course of the Palmiet River on a hot Saturday. The walk was mostly level; we walked slowly for over three hours, so probably covered about 9 km in total.... More

What a relaxing and rejuvenating 2 night stay we had to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in Fire Lily and although the views weren't the best out of all the cabins, it was still an amazing break. We hiked up Leopard Gorge, did the Fogelberg Trail and ran up the Palmiet River. The cabins are well appointed and equipped and... More
