The Whippany Railway Museum has been bringing to life the history of New Jersey's railroads to the public. Offering family entertainment for young and old alike. Weekly excursions and events are a thrill for the whole family.

Since 1965 the Whippany Railway Museum is dedicated to Preserving the Heritage and History of the Railroads of New Jersey through the Restoration, Preservation, Interpretation and Operation of Historic Railroad Equipment and Artifacts from New Jersey and the immediate vicinity.

We offer excursion rides 15 times a year, including our Easter Bunny Express, and our famous Santa Claus Special. During the Summer we have our Excursion Train Rides, that feature our collection of restored cabooses.

The museum is open every ride day as well as Sundays from 12pm to 4pm during the months from May to September. The museum features vintage train memorabilia & information as well as a museum shop

You can wander our grounds and see our collection of vintage rolling stock as well as steam and diesel engines. There is also a outdoor model railroad with almost a quarter mile of track.

This has always been a favorite with our family and friends. We started coming here for the Santa Train. We'd visit the museum, look at the displays, history and running train sets. Then we'd ride in the caboose (our favorite part of the train) and wait for Santa to come by. Then the Easter Bunny Train was added and we... More

The Whippany Train Museum will not be running the Santa Train this year 2016 because The M & E will be running the Polar Ezpress. We will miss the Santa Train.

Been here a few times with my 5 year old. Loves trains and they have plenty here. Even o scale hobby train display in the back. It can get busy on holidays and special events but not overwhelming. Santa train was a short ride with plenty of characters. About 30 to 40 minutes of riding is ok for me. Nice... More

If you are local to this area, you might want to take your young kids for a first time Railway museum. Very few cars, but interesting to be able to touch and feel their size.

Went here for Father's Day. Wasn't a bad visit but the place is overly simple, which is to be expected based on price. There are a few old trains out, that you can't go in most of them. We took a ride on the train, but that was fairly unpleasant because of the heat (and lack of A/C in the... More

The Whippany Railway Museum Train Rides are a great way to spend the day be it riding on the caboose train or even their yearly Easter Train. I myself recommend riding their Central Railroad of New Jersey Parlor Car called the Jersey Coast. Its a nice trip back in time and the round trip ride is only 45 minutes. The... More

We have visited this railway a few times for Easter and Christmas and have enjoyed it. It's not too far and the price is decent. Our son really enjoys the characters that come down the isle to visit all the passengers. We will most likely make this a yearly event until our son decides otherwise.
