If you are a bird lover, the Audubon's facility here is excellent. Most of the year (but not in the summer, bears are a problem then), their bird feeder is visited by only upscale birds - no pigeons or house finches, which are all town birds. The regulars are chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, and sometimes wrens seldom seen in NJ (we... More

Visited the sanctuary, hiked a few trails. Signs need to be updated. Visited a pond but the pond wasn't there just rocks a fountain that didn't work and benches.

This is a wonderful little hike in the woods. Easy to access right off of Hardscrabble Road. There are some beautiful birds seen at this sanctuary. The many different woodpeckers are among my favorite. I have been here many times during all different seasons. Each season has something different to offer. Walking after a fresh snow with all of the... More

We have been coming here over the years, 18 years to be exact. A place to feel outdoor, a place to see some birds but mostly we come here to buy bird seeds and things. A bit expensive compared to other stores but birds who come to our bird feeders could decipher which ones comes from this place or from... More

The best thing about Sherman-Hoffman is the people. I have been on many of the Saturday am FREE nature walks, and they are excellent. so much to learn. Stephanie leads many of them and her knowledge of the flora and fauna of NJ is legendary. Mike Anderson is also often around the sanctuary, and he is a great birder and... More

Great walks on wooden walkways through wetlands area. Great opportunities for photography and viewing birds. We understand they have turtles but we didn't see any.

This large sanctuary has a visitor center, many well marked trails and lovely grounds with a river running through it. It was winter and we saw some birds especially a number of hawks. There are bird feeders near the Center where you observe many small birds. The sanctuary is off exit 30B of I-287 and sits back a few miles... More

A great place with many trails and a fantastic gift shop. Often hikes are led by a guide. Trees abound as well as birds and other critters.
