One of many lighthouses along the Jersey shore, Barnegat's "Light" with its red & white colors in my favorite...used to live a few blocks away and viewed every day. Nice park, eateties and shops nearby, family friendly...pretty muxh seasonal like most of LBI.

Enjoyed walking the area around the lighthouse. At the end of Long Beach Island, the area back of the lighthouse affords a pleasant view of boating activities. Great parking on a weekday afternoon.

My family of four finally made the climb up the lighthouse this year. For only $7 total we made it to the top despite some awkward two-way staircase moments with other visitors. If you are a heavy-set person like my husband it can be challenging...More

A nice little state park that you can sit and have a picnic, but be sure to pick up after yourself since they have removed all trash cans and have bags to take your trash with you. You can walk to the lighthouse and climb...More

I have a long history with Barnegat Light, having visited for nearly 40 years. It's good to see that the lighthouse is still well maintained. I miss the old beach in front that was reclaimed for the inlet/jetty improvements, but I'm glad the lighthouse is...More

Our family enjoyed the June night climb up the lighthouse. The Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse hosted the night climb. It was my daughters first night climb and my granddaughters first climb up the light. There was a beach bonfire complete with amplified music. Guests waited...More

We enjoyed an early morning visit. Spent about two hours. As we left, it was much more crowded. We didn't climb inside as we had done many years ago. Instead we took in the views. We walked along the jetty (be careful, slippery) to the...More

There is a small fee to go up into the lighthouse ($6 I think), and it is a somewhat narrow walk to the top. Definitely not for people who have trouble walking up stairs. There is a decent amount of room at the top to...More

"Old Barney" is the main attraction at the northern end of Long Beach Island. The lighthouse is open daily in the summer for visitors to climb to the top and once a month they offer night climbs, on a Saturday. Grab a sandwich at the...More

Old fashioned lighthouse with 217 steps tot he top but worth every one. 360 degree view at the top gives you an excellent vantage for looking at the shore and the bay. Our three year old grandson led the charge up to the top and...More

Once you walk past the lighthouse and on the walkway bordering the Bay, around the corner is a sandy beach. It's a bit of a walk, but I noticed people were in the water. Beaches in this area are few and far between. Lots... More
