As an avid reader, the huge hotel porch with its row of rocking chairs called to me as I stepped off the boat. A little walk around the island presents you with sweet charms such as the beautiful chapel. Guided tours offer fascinating history of teh area and great ghost stories to boot!! Swimming off the dock and renting a... More

We went to the Isle of Shoals on the Thomas Leighton, a people ferry, no cars no roads on the Isles. The day we went was the perfect day for us to go. The weather was warm and a bit breezy and the sea was calm. A narrator, David did a great travelogue as we went through Portsmouth Harbor and... More

Jack the shipmate and the Captain are excellent tour guides and host.Coming into the dock to park was a breeze even though many cars were parked tandem. Star Island was enjoyable to visit and even better after discovering all the history that took place there.

We enjoyed a pleasant boat tour on the Thomas Leighton, a three-hour afternoon cruise from the Portsmouth downtown waterfront to the Isles of Shoals and back. The informative tour described the different islands that make up the Isles of Shoals, and gave interesting history about the families, sailors, and pirates who left their mark on these tiny islands. Do not... More

The whole experience was lots of fun. It was interesting to learn about all of the landmarks the boat passed. I would recommend sitting in the front of the boat as it is easier to see and follow the tour.

The three hour trip to the Isles of Shoals was fantastic. Not only do you get a boatride down the river but also 6 miles to the isles. The trip was also narrated so you got to know a little history of the area.

A small cluster of tiny islands (most notably 7, technically 11) , 6 mi. off the NH/ME coast, rich in heritage ( think seafarers, hearty fisherman, PIRATES ( Blackbeard is said to have stashed loot here..) accessible by private boat, or a day trip on the local tour boat Thomas Leighton.

We went on Sunday to the Isles of Shoals Walking Tour, which lasted approx. 4 hrs. It was a cloudy day which was all the better. It was very comfortable walking around. The boat we took, The Thomas Laighton, was very, very nice. You could buy snack and drinks and the restrooms were very clean. We had a very smooth... More

We visited the Islands with a stop at Star Island using Uncle Oscar's Island Cruises of Rye, NH. in their Isles & Star Island Tour. The cost was $21 for adults (a dollar off for seniors); $18 for children 6-11 and $9 for children 2-5. The trip took three hours with about 1.25 hours on Star Island. The boar is... More
