Very interesting part of American history. This place is fascinating as you walk from one building to another that has been furnished and restored to the way it was back in the day. Some of houses even have actors who play a role of a housewife or other personality true to character. A lot is known about this time period... More

Strawberry Banke is where the city of Portsmouth had its beginning. The houses from the 18th century give a good idea of what life was like then. We went on a free day that was dedicated to the "little people," Artists displayed their fairy houses around the grounds. Small children were there with their angel wings peering into the imaginative... More

After a 30 year hiatus of lacing up a pair of ice skates, I had a wonderful time ice skating at the Labrie Family outdoor ice rink at Strawbery Banke Museum. This is a top notch outdoor rink facility offering skate rentals, indoor cafe, indoor & outdoor seating and even a Zamboni. Great time for families, couples & even singles.

We were there for the Christmas walk. It is well worth the time. They recommend 1 1/2 to 2 hours. We spent four. The history and people were wonderful. Looking forward to going back in the summer to do it again.

It was freezing cold so not sure if this had an impact but it was not as advertised. Not one christmas carol could be heard, no vintage skaters on the pond. It was not very christmasy, it was rather bleak and depressing. Could never get anyone on the phone to answer questions so I ebbed up spending 250 dollars on... More

Thank you for reviewing Candlelight Stroll. Your comments are extremely useful in fine-tuning the event, year to year. We are so sorry you had the experience you described! Yes, the frigid cold, then snow, then temps too warm for ice forced the cancellation of the vintage skaters the last weekend of Stroll. And kept the carolers mostly indoors (though there... More

Candlelight stroll is a festive night out. This is a step back in time. each home is from a different era. Actors role play in homes and outside in the areas. If I could suggest 1 idea- display in each home a calender of the month and year. because these homes are different eras I think it helps to know... More

Wonderful evening. Many historical houses with information being given out by informed "characters" Ice skating, bonfire, authentic decorations, carolers and fiddlers, and hot cider with live music. Christmas as it used to be.

Very fun and informative night with lovely characters from years past. I would highly recommend skating on puddle dock pond.

Their candlelight stroll is a great way to get in the holiday mood. This living history museum does the christmas of yesteryear thing with candlelight luminiers, bonfire, wandering carol singers and snacks to be found. A pricy ticket for sure but a good time had by all.

Thank David M
