No matter how many times I return to Saint John's, I am never disappointed on the warmth and grace and caring shown not only by the clergy but moreover the parishioners. This has become home to me and I am proud to be a part of the huge outreach program here, which touches lives of those in need locally as... More

Travelers can expect a warm welcome in this beautiful downtown church. This is a congregation that truly welcomes everyone to its Sunday services. Summers have lemonade on the lawn after services too. You don't have to miss out on the joy of Fellowship just because you are away from home.

We didn't go into this church, but as we walked around Portsmouth we happened upon this old church and to the North of it along a narrow cobblestone street was a very old graveyard with a mausoleum and entry tunnels that you could see were bricked closed. Some of the tombstones were dated in the late 1700's. The walk along... More

I think the one comment I heard over and over again from people who were visiting the St. John's Episcopal Church was how it looked like a picture post card sitting right in front of us. I loved the views of the church from so many different locations around Portsmouth, but to be standing right in front of it at... More

Wow, this place has a history that was surprisingly educational. If you're in the area, spend some time inside the Church and walk the grounds...you'll be enlightened by what you see and who's attended services in it's hallowed grounds.

Tour guides were very friendly. Did not go to the top of the steeple. History of the place and pictures were very interesting. Church is beautiful.

and this church really seems to reach out to the community. Great sermon, and very welcoming congregation. We are looking for a local church, and this is high on our list so far.

I have attended several services, which were beautiful. There are many, many historical artifacts dating as far back as the 1700's. It feels a little strange to "review" a church, but from an historical standpoint, if you are visiting Portsmouth, I would definitely make a point of at least walking by and looking in.
