Albacore was an experimental sub. You get to walk through it and through the associated museum. You can even see how they got it there. Worth an hour if you are in town.

I believe you can get pretty close. There is fence around the sub but is low chain link so you can see it clearly. My gets is that after 5 mins you'll leave
