A bit like visiting a really good National Trust Property in the UK.

A well maintained property both inside and outside. The location was scenic with a long-drive up to the house (it might be called Castle in the Clouds but I let you on the fact that it is not really a Castle as we know it) and with intermittent clouds the view was impressive. The house itself had many original fittings... More

For being such a beautiful landmark they have very odd hours. Traveled all the way from MD just to be greeted by a very rude and snobby older woman sharply saying we are closed hood bye go enjoy the art show for 15 minutes. Very disappointed and also who suggests a art show when you have kids under 5. Very... More

We eat out on the terrace in the summer/fall. It has a beautiful view of the lake. The food is excellent and service is also. The inside tables are in "stalls" that were used in olden days with Brass railings. Beautiful, quaint and fun. It is well worth a trip. While there, take a hike on many of the trails;... More

We visited on a really beautiful day, so there were no clouds - but there was the most incredible view from the restaurant. We didn't have time to tour the house, but had a short walk through the grounds and lunch in the restaurant. There was a good choice on the menu, and the food was excellent. Staff were friendly... We enjoyed a 9-day stay in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in mid-October. We based our stay near North Conway. On a previous trip to Vermont we had read about the Castle. On a Sunday we chose to drive the 30 mile trip and did so in about 50 minutes. It was a pleasant drive, all on two-lane roads.... More

This is a really nice stop if you're in the area. The waterfall is beautiful and there's a really nice scenic stop that overlooks the water. The restaurant was pretty good and the views amazing (the cocktails were great btw). The actual tour of the house was awesome! The tour guide gave SO much information it was almost difficult to... After entry at the gate, view the scenic spots on the way up to the house. You exit another way. From the car park buses run to the house every 15 min for an introduction to the house. After this you are free to wander the house. Such stunning views. Return to the car park and restaurant can be by... More

I enjoyed my trip to Castle in the Clouds tremendously! The drive there is enjoyable. Once enter the property, you drive up this cool mountain road. I took the short hike to the waterfall - it was an easy little walk and it was very pretty. Further up the road, you get to the area where you take a trolley... More

Even though we lived in NH for years we had never visited Castle in the Clouds. During an Oct visit from CO we decided to rectify that and were glad we did! It was $24 (with a $4 veterans discount) and the lady selling tickets was very pleasant. She gave us instructions on what to see on our way up... More

Castle in the Clouds has been a family favorite since my mother was a little girl. It will harbor many memories for you too. Visit the Castle and explore the progressive thinking of that era. The restaurant, located in the old stables, has the most spectacular view of Lake Winnipesaukee and the food is good too! Make sure to visit... More
